Shiny and fast, the Type 188 was nicknamed the "Flaming Pencil". Built for research at very high speeds the Type 188 could reach (appropriately) Mach 1.88 but had an endurance of only half an hour. Adjusted for inflation it remains the most expensive british aircraft project ever. At least it makes a very sexy museum exhibit.
The Flaming Lips play a show "second best to The Dead's" to a sold-out crowd in Barton Hall.

We had dinner a week ago at a hibachi grill at a local Japanese restaurant. Of course the chef constructed the traditional Flaming Onion- I mean, they have to. I've never been to a hibachi that hasn't had this little sideshow on the way to my stomach.
