Got stuck in a blizzard in Boston for several days and when I got back to the Birmingham airport, I drove home, picked up my ticket and went straight to this concert. Exhausted, but it was totally worth it.

Part of my road trip as I drove towards Yellowstone was to take a detour off I 80 and head south for 60 miles on US 191 S There I took county road 33 which was smooth dirt road for the next 60 miles. This road lead to and meandered around Flaming River Gorge Resovoir. During that drive, the only sounds were an occassional bird, the wind and the hum of my truck. No other humans. It was BLISS. I was not afraid. I had plenty water and snacks and ways to keep warm and I did let my husband know where I was going before taking off on this awesome adventure. The pictures do not do justice to the beauty and majesty I saw on this drive thru the canyons and around the gorge.

Tower Hamlets' fireworks in Victoria Park were of the plain old-fashioned large collection of things that go bang variety. With a giant flaming Puritan skeleton.
After the symphony, I caught the Flaming Lips finale from behind the stage. "Do You Realize" with the usual multicolored confetti showering down on the rabid fans. Thrilling.
Looking up the Flaming Gorge reservoir, which is 91 miles long. I had not realized until visiting here that Flaming Gorge is the Green River and that the reservoir is part of the Colorado River Storage project.
