I designed the banner for my friend's blog, The Flaming Curmudgeon. It all fairness, the orange was Kevin's idea.
Shiny and fast, the Type 188 was nicknamed the "Flaming Pencil". Built for research at very high speeds the Type 188 could reach (appropriately) Mach 1.88 but had an endurance of only half an hour. Adjusted for inflation it remains the most expensive british aircraft project ever. At least it makes a very sexy museum exhibit.
