The ripples on the water were caused by small fish (minnows) disturbing the surface of the water. I would just sit and wait for them, and then watch for interesting patterns to appear... I could do this all day, seriously, I could.

To be surrounded by water and unable to fish was frustrating until last morning from reef off Kota Kinabaloo. Lankayan Island is within a conservation area where fishing was not allowed.
