ZAHS advanced band performs at Grandberry Mall

Zama American High School’s advanced band played for the first time in a local foreign national concert venue May 22 at Grandberry Mall.

Kevin Hanson, Zama American School band teacher, said he has been here nine years and they have been unable to find a venue off-base.

“For this performance opportunity, we had to send a video of the band to be asked/accepted to play,” said Hanson.

The symphonic band of 41 students played a variety of music to include some Disney movie themed music, Batman’s theme song and the Mission Impossible movie theme song.

Hanson said the mall manager was watching the crowd and everyone seemed to enjoy it.

“We were invited to come back anytime,” said Hanson.

Josie crossed a street for the first time ever. Such a big girl. Shes crossed side streets before, but this was the first time using a real crosswalk, and avoiding cars while watching the lights.
