my first attempt at wet felting! (not including felted soap)

Chose different photo, of course. Pathetic selection of about 6 to choose from.

New Orleans has always been on my short list of Places I Must Go. It has always appealed to me, for the artistic and the historical as much as the wild side of it.

I finally got the chance to go this past weekend with my friend, Kh. She and I had an absolutely amazing time, and with both of us having cameras superglued to our hands, it made it even more fun.

We are already planning a return trip next year on the weekend in which Krewe Du Vieux parades; that was too good to miss. The food, the people, the architecture, the pageantry, the revelry, the total lack of inhibitions, all of it is New Orleans, and all of it is firmly planted in my heart.

With a Flixbus from Brussels to London. I was pleasantly surprised. Brussels apparently also has a nice side.

Trents first time going swimming, taken at our apartment complex

Whoa, do I see a yoga/library/chill out area for Jason and I over there or what? This room is HUGE!

Inspired by some of my Flickr friends, I've been working on compiling a list of all the birds I have photographed. I started a new Flickr album to help keep me on task. I still have several more new to me birds to share before I am complete. And of course, I hope to add plenty more in the future.

This, I believe, is a black vulture. Usually we see turkey vultures around here. This is the first and only time so far I have seen a black vulture. I was leaving one of my favorite local birding spots and traveling a country road when I came upon this guy/gal feasting on some road kill. I stopped the car in hopes of getting a shot, but it flew off up into the trees. Fortunately, I didn't completely spook it and managed to get some shots out the car window. I was also fortunate to have my camera and zoom lens sitting right beside me since I had just finished searching for birds at the pond.

It appears that this area is in the northernmost range of the black vulture, according to All About Birds from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology ... link follows ...

I don't know why I was feeling particularly ambitious but I decided to try making sweet potato gnocchi. I'd never made any kind of gnocchi before and just decided on sweet potato because I already had some in the freezer. Of course, later on I find out this is the hardest kind to make. ;-)

It was a little time consuming and I probably overworked the dough, since they are nowhere near as pillowy as restaurant gnocchi, but all in all I'd say they turned out ok for a first effort.
