I made this for my sons 18th. Most of the things he does end up with a visit to the Emergency Department. He is not accident prone, just WAY too adventurous. His friends loved the cake and gobbled up the bandaid ect as soon as the candles were blown out. One of them thinks I am soooo good that he tired a candle too! lol Everything is edible EXCEPT for the candles :D

Cool stuff but not very useful unless you know how to use them

Day one of a three day first aid course. Today I have been unconscious three times and had four major bleeds. I've also saved several lives. I really REALLY hope I never get to use this in real life.

The first aid kits sold in stores are quite poor in their contents. This kit totally blows away most of those kits available in stores any day. Building one of these is very time-consuming. But it's definitely worth it.

On August 25, the Kentuckiana Region invited businesses from throughout the community to attend the Ready 365 Reception to kick-off the new corporate giving campaign led by Courier-Journal President & Publisher Wes Jackson. While the event was meant to inform, it also inspired. Kentuckiana Region Executive Jennifer Adrio presented Katie Strange with a Certificate of Extraordinary Achievement for her brave actions this past July when she helped save a life.

Strange was at her home in Elizabethtown, Ky. when her neighbor ran over with his infant daughter. The girl was choking on a small toy and was no longer breathing. Using skills she learned in a Red Cross Babysitter training course, Strange dislodged the toy from the infant’s throat saving the child’s life.

Red Cross Babysitter Training is a one or two day course instructing 11-15 year-olds on how to care for infants and children. During Day 1, participants learn the basics of caring for infants and children. This includes holding, feeding, diapering and basic first aid. During Day 2, participants learn how to conduct Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on infants and children. They also learn how to perform back blows and abdominal thrusts should a child in their care start to choke.
