A Dawlish scene from almost 42 years ago to the day catches class 47 no. 47480 passing through the station with an up express. The mark 1 carriage stock, as well as the loco being Crewe (CD) allocated at the time, suggest the train may be heading towards the Midlands.
Note Pollards Refreshment kiosk to the left - with ice-cream, sweets, as well as fresh crab on offer, it's seemingly perfectly positioned to cater for families who don't want to stray from the beach on those hot sunny days. And the First Aid hut at right (handy if you've got kids) stands on Marine Parade, as indeed do some of the better hotels offering unparalleled views over the seafront and bay.
Unfortunately a combination of rising sea-levels and more extreme weather have required more substantial sea defences at this spot, so the railway up towards the tunnel now sits behind a higher seawall which largely blocks the once pleasant view that could be had from the carriage window. And, from what I remember of a visit here a couple of years ago, Pollards and the First Aid hut have disappeared too.
Even with somewhat dodgy compositional skills back then I'd have found cutting off the top of the cliff a bit irritating. But with four fixed focal length lenses in the kit-bag (I thought I was well equipped at the time) some compromise on the framing was still necessary.
Given the portrait format it's probably better viewed on a phone or tablet. Commenting off for this one, thanks.

This medical train complete with its own operating theatre was primarily used for military training exercises but is now lying abandoned at a railway sidings.
All of my pictures are made without the use of AI or far-reaching Photoshop manipulations: WISIWYG (What I See Is What You Get) using only Lightroom.

La Vila Olímpica del Poblenou is a neighborhood in the Sant Martí district of Barcelona, Catalonia (Spain). It was constructed in the late 1980s and early 1990s for the 1992 Summer Olympic Games which took place in Barcelona. Its construction was devised by Oriol Bohigas, David Mackay and Albert Puigdomènec as a residential area in the otherwise industrial and working-class district of Poblenou, which underwent regeneration but involved massive expropriation, as well as the destruction of a sizeable portion of the district, including Industrial Revolution factories of architectural value such as Fàbrica Foret.
