Flying the falcon at the drum jam by Pahz

This was the first time Ray has flown a falcon at the Drum jam in about two years. The faire started putting up vendor tents in the area where he usually flew the falcon. Since the tents were new and slightly obstructive, he didn't attempt to fly the bird during that time.

The faire moved the tents this year to a better location and now Ray can fly the falcon once again. He'd been practice-flying the bird during the week while people weren't there and on the weekends during the faire, he'd bring the falcon up to the drum jam so it could get used to the sounds and crowds. And the flight of the raptor was a roaring success. He's done this every night at the drum jam since this day.

National Demo Against Outsourcing - 26 Feb 2019 by Ron F.

For the first time in UK history, a coalition of unions came together in a day of action against outsourcing. By using outsourcing companies, employers are able to offer some workers far worse pay, holiday entitlements, sick pay and pension contributions than directly employed staff. The demonstration coincided with a court case between the IWGB union, the government and the University of London which, if successful, could allow the UK's 3.3 million outsourced workers to negotiate directly with their de-facto employers.

The protest started at Senate House, University of London, where cleaners and security staff are in dispute, before heading to the Royal Courts of Justice, Parliament Square, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, and ending outside the Ministry of Justice where the cleaners are in dispute. It was organised by the Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain (IWGB), United Voices of the World (UVW), Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) and the RMT.
