en fire engines and around 70 firefighters were called to the scene of a fire at a block of maisonettes in Lyon Park Avenue, Wembley.
Half of the roof of the property and part of a four-roomed maisonette on the first floor were damaged by fire. A neighbouring single-storey, detached car workshop and three cars were also destroyed by the blaze. Around 12 people left the maisonettes before the Brigade arrived. There were no reports of any injuries.
Firefighters remained at the scene overnight to extinguish remaining hotspots.
The Brigade's 999 Control Officers took 18 calls to the blaze.
The Brigade was called at 0157 and the fire was under control by 0424. Fire crews from Wembley, Park Royal, Acton, Northolt and surrounding stations were at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.

When I was leaving Bonnyville today I was detoured off mainstreet due to a fire in the "Install It" shop. The fire was pretty well out (just a little bit of smoke still coming out of the roof). The RCMP has the street blocked but a restaurant parking lot across the street was full of onlookers and of course I had to join them to take some pictures. Never know when I might need them for MSH group
The friends down the street enjoyed a nice fire to warm up the evening. It was really cold tonight, I haven't been able to see my breath in a long time until tonight. I really like all of the different colors that are incorporated in this photo. Something a little different from the norm.

This guy preaches around outside the Memorial Union on the Tempe campus of Arizona State University. He is some sort of a fundamentalist Christian who believes in a literal interpretation of the Bible. Unfortunately, this means that he sometimes carries a sign with a "Stop" sign over words like "Homosexuals" and "Thieves"and "Liars" and "Masturbators." What's worse, all these people (like the clowns with the signs) add to the circus-like atmosphere and give this guy so much more attention. To me, this man seems unwell - like he isn't thinking rationally about the tenets of Christianity. If he was well, he would realize that Christ doesn't tell his follows to exhort against masturbation on a university campus.
