Christmas has always been a synonym for time with family and loved ones, time of giving and forgiving.

Merry Christmas to those who celebrate!

Wishing that one day it will also be a day of love and peace for the families we often forget about: www.instagram.com/p/CX3v3z5FHXK/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Near to tourist shopping district Ximending, this is one area with old charm conserved buildings and has many camera shops, I was looking for a camera bag.

The chimpanzees at Chicago's Lincoln Park Zoo were mostly hanging out in the shadowed areas of their quarters when I was there earlier this month. But I was lucky enough to capture a nicely illuminated portrait of this chimp when she stepped briefly into the sunlight.

It's about time to post a photo of Sethi again but that's not as easy as it seems. He is still quite camera-shy and usually also too busy, especially in summer. He was hiding in a bush when I saw him in the garden today. In fact it was Fynn who found him, I probably wouldn't have noticed him. Sethi wasn't pleased when he was discovered and soon left the garden to find a better hiding place.

Este otoño no he logrado capturar esas luces que tanto me gustan, así que ahí va una de hace un par de años en una de mis primeras experiencias con este tipo de luces. Espero que os guste y muchas gracias por vuestros comentarios. Feliz fin de semana!

No, I wouldn't do that either. Trapped in a watery rut. I like to go somewhere on a holiday and taking a week to go three miles is a pace I can't stand. The weeds in my garden grow faster than that. But for some, it is all they desire in life. A bit of bird watching, fishing, sunbathing, cooking and socialising on the canal bank. I tried it once. Never again. We kept running out of beer.

This is the canal towpath that I always visit at every time of the year. I was feeling a bit depressed and sad these days due to my sister's health problems, now in the ICU at the hospital. The walk here made me feel a bit better, even though autumn is not showing its best colors due to the dry weather. I took a photo of the area with the most colorful trees. I hope it brings you peace and serenity, too.

Oh boy. This is a tough piece of advice to follow. I know I have been "accepting" what our lives have become with the pandemic restrictions; like not seeing our family or travelling. But to actually find joy in what I am doing instead is not always easy to do even after months of practice! I noticed even with photography that many people have turned to new lenses or tried out new techniques to keep the joy of photography alive. I must admit that I am finding some renewed joy in my macro lens and the new flowers in my garden. Then we had two baby Chickadees trying out their wings for the first time in our garden today. I guess I would have missed this event if I was off travelling somewhere. Still, I hope we all get to live our new normal soon.

Greetings Flickr friends -

Just a quick note to say I’ll be stepping back from Flickr for a little while. My husband is coming home from the hospital this Wednesday after a major surgery—and I’ll be focused on his care, keeping everything spotless, and making sure our dogs stay clear of his stitches.

I may not be posting or commenting much, but I’ll still be editing when I can—it’s my stress relief and creative escape. Thank you for your understanding and for being such a kind, inspiring community. I’ll be back when things settle down.

Warmest wishes,

Dor

The dream of my life

is to lie down by a slow river

and stare at the light in the trees--

to learn something by being nothing

a little while

but the rich

lens of attention.
