We had it confirmed yesterday that our dear Flickr friend, Gérard had left us. I say confirmed because I had noticed he had not reappeared as he always did and the days of his absence were increasingly disturbing. I thought about him often of late...his loyalty, consistent presence and most of all his humor. He is the only one I've ever known who I could really hear laugh when he wrote "LOL."
It's funny how this medium can actually develop what can only be defined as real friendships when one anticipates and looks forward to daily interactions and comments. I recall the shock I felt when he informed us of his condition...and clearly recall also the shock he himself felt in just those few dramatic words. I eagerly awaited his return to Flickr from his treatments and, when he did, marveled at his spirit during this impossibly difficult time.
Gérard and I shared musical tastes and frequently exchanged YouTube links we thought appropriate to an image or an expressed thought. In many ways, we were on the same "wave length" and we discussed and mourned the losses in the musical arena this year. And now he has joined them. It has indeed been a year of loss.
So adieu, mon ami. You will be missed deeply by many, as myself, who have never met or even spoken to you...a tribute indeed. Oh, and I can tell that's you captured in this image by the white head...;-)
And one more link to carry you onward...
You can find Gold everywhere in Grand Tetons National Park during the fall season. The most incredible golden colors in autumn are a photographers treasure. Of course I'm referring to colors and not the minerals. I found this area off of a dirt road near Oxbow Bend. (Edited in Lightroom and Topaz)
Finding That Moment? This was one of those moments for me. Thanks for viewing my work. Stay safe and be happy. Be kind to others.🙏
The river moved fast and the clouds overhead were changing swiftly but for me the moment was still.
Holy smokes - I look at this after the Monday morning rush and start of the week and I want to go back! I'll close my eyes and dream....for now! :-)
Happy new week all! Hope it is filled with good thoughts and calm waters.
"Finding Out More"
Wonder if I
Should tell you not to wait
I'll ride the heat haze
Wild man take a turn
Finding out more
So many times
Longed for the break of dawn
As the morning will call
The courage waking up
Finding out more
We're finding more ways
If you need it all
We'll try to operate
Show me light
Come to the other road
Where the cold never stays
Wild man take it all
If you like to go far, run fast
But if you chase love don't pass
Chances never build to last
I better run and chase
Finding out more
Finding more ways
If you need it all
We'll try to operate
If you like to go far, run fast
But if you chase love don't pass
Chances never build to last
I better run and chase
And I will find more
Finding more ways
If I need it all
I try to operate
And I will find more
Finding more ways
And if I need it all
I try to operate

What if it's a rainy day? What if it's stormy weather? You can always look and all you'll need then, is to see... Do that and you won't have to find grace. Grace will find you...

The family is our refuge and our springboard; nourished on it, we can advance to new horizons. In every conceivable manner, the family is link to our past, bridge to our future.

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
All summer I've been trying to capture the Queen Anne's Lace and today this one called me. The intricacy of those tiny seedheads is a marvel.
Chinook Creek, Mount Rainier National Park, Washington
I went to the mountains to look at wildflowers yesterday and ended up watching waterfalls and spending hours sitting by the beautiful clear waters of Chinook Creek, surrendering the stresses of the week to the rhythm of the flowing water.
The healing process for my foot will take awhile longer but I I got doctor approval for some easy walking as long as it wasn't painful, and I have been sadly missing alpine wildflower season, so I had planned to head up early in the morning to Mount Rainier National Park to visit some short and flat trails that usually have good wildflower viewing.
However, I arrived at my destination to find it overflowing with cars and people. (I would later find out from someone who asked me for directions, that the park rangers were directing people to this area as an alternative to the very long wait to get into the Sunrise entrance.) Being not in the mood for crowds of people, I decided to head to a less crowded spot and a trail I have hiked before that I knew had some waterfalls and creek access within the first half mile. I'm not sure the steepness of that half mile, the uneven trail surface, and the rocky sections by the water were quite the "easy walking" the doctor had in mind but I did give my foot some therapeutic soakings in an ice cold glacier fed stream!
I found a couple of beautiful spots to sit down by the creek, and without miles of hiking ahead of me I had plenty of time to relax and enjoy them. So I immersed myself in the sounds of the rush and flow of the creek, watched the play of sunlight on the water and how it changed as the sun moved across the sky, visually explored in depth all the details of the rocks and pools of water, and lazily watched dragonflies, butterflies, and an American Dipper. And since I only saw 3 other people in the hours that I was there, I especially enjoyed the soul nurturing tranquility of solitude. (A surprising find on a sunny Saturday in August at Mount Rainier!)
EXPLORED.....Thank you!
