Several Shots of the Cotton Harvest which finally got underway here yesterday. None of us can remember the cotton being in the field this late. The problem has been rain. It's just been too wet to get the big Cotton Harvesters into the fields.

UP Metra M7901-07 returns to California Avenue after taking local civic dignitaries to Crystal Lake IL for a Metra Project unveiling at Elgin IL. The timing of their trip on a sunny fall day wasn't the best for light but once they were done everyone knew the few miles between Oglivie and the coach yard would be ideal at mid-afternoon. Here they pass beneath the old "Met EL" bridge at Wood Street. Special thanks to all our birdies for making it great.

Went back to the Black Neck Grebes for a third time and the conditions were perfect. I sat and waited on the bank of the lake for around 2 hours until they finally came out.

The Gorse bush in the background provided great colours on the water also.

Finally got some shots that I am really happy with. More to follow!

at the two trees

Happy hour in our garden

Finally, the end of the Cranberry Pond photos.

For now...

... a few minutes after my last upload was taken (in first comment), there happend a tough, nosiy fight under a overhanging tree on the riverbank.

It went on for about 2 minutes with a lot of splashing and roaring, but it was impossible to see anything of this action because of the dense tree.

After that, there was a moment of silence and then we saw the successful hunter dragging a caiman out of the water,

finally disappearing with his hard earned breakfast in the adjoining forest.

Part 30 and last part of a series of pictures of the hard job of a Jaguar, trying to get his breakfast ...

If you want to see the previous pictures of that little story in chronological order, have a look at my Jaguar Morning-Album.

Thanks for your interest and I hope you could feel some of the thrill we experienced while watching this fantastic jaguar for such a long time.

Have a good start to the weekend!

One of the final must see things on this trip Shibuya Scramble

THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT AND FAVES

ON THE REACTIONS I WILL TRY TO RESPOND BACK

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yessss finally I saw them, have to zoom in to the limit so they are not super sharp, but I don't care :-)), I have them on it :-))

I still walk there, at sunrise, and I keep getting the comments from walkers who walk the dog or joggers, "you are too late the deer are already gone", well this time I was lucky, so cool this to see

Having trailed every time I had ever seen it, we finally got the 355 on point and even in sun wooohooo, Mind you poor dispatcher calls would kill any other sunny shots of it leading on the main after this shot but het I guess it is what it is.

We have been enjoying some very welcome sunshine, though no real warmth as yet since the winds have mostly been off the sea. Yesterday, whilst much of the UK was enjoying 18-20C, it was 10C here! But we did have more hours of sunshine than anyone else!

However the sun has been bringing the hedgerows and blossom trees to life.

Finally getting some color here in New Jersey and what better place to see some than Waterloo Village.

"The Peter D. Smith house was erected in 1871, the same year Peter, 26, was married. The house overlooks the village and has a sweeping view of the Musconetcong River and Morris Canal."

"...considered to be the most architecturally significant building in the village. Located on top of a rise of land on the north side of the old Waterloo Road, the Peter D. Smith house is a three-story wood-framed dwelling designed in the Second Empire style of architecture."

With 393 and 394 running during the day due to a bridge washout in Quebec, the options for getting pictures of them increased significantly. Longer days of course meant being able to chase 393 further west, but the bridge at Gillead was always in the shadow. Finally, after setting the clocks forwards, getting some sun on 393 was possible. Today's train consisted of the 803, 3803, 6029, 3105 and 19 cars.

"Song of my soul, my voice is dead,

Die thou, unsung, as tears unshed

Shall dry and die in

2019 Amboseli N.P. en juin saison de pluie pas terminée

I was so jealous for the past several days of all the people posting pictures of Varied Thrushes and saying how many they had in their yards. Yesterday afternoon I finally had 2 show up! I was quite excited! They were back first thing this morning and were here throughout the entire day. At one point I think I had 6!

Miles - 832

Are we there yets? 168

Hours in the car - 13.5

Her first glimpse of the ocean - Priceless

The sunsets have been eluding me lately. Finally I got some clouds to cooperate and give me a fine ending to the day.

We finally have enough snow to get snowshoes on the trail and it was a great way to enjoy a brisk winter day. Had to be careful, though - lot's of rocks, holes, and crevices in this area. Using hiking poles was often a must for testing deeper snow ahead. Blue side trail blazes (see one here?) were also much easier to follow as compared to the white version of the main trail, which were frequently difficult to see in the snowy trees. In fact, we missed a turn at one point and had to hunt around for it.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Finally getting one of these on camera, an RCPE SD40-2 leads a NS C44-9W on 470 working out of Bensenville Yard.

Finding some rarities at the record store!

A few eye distractions from the forest and the river. In the spring it's wildflowers, in the fall it's mushrooms (which are actually flowers of mycelia)

…after so many days of dense mist and fog, we get a glimpse of sunrise, and the beginnings of clouds emerging! 😊

Happy Tree-mendous Tuesday
