We're delighted to end our year of gigs with the particularly fine Filthy Six. Fresh from a live session for the BBC last week, they promise to bring the house down (or even the Church...) with their rip roaring dancefloor blend of jazz funk and boogaloo. Boogie until 2am and end the year in filthy style!
The Filthy Six are the most exciting, authentic soul jazz outfit in the UK today and have established themselves as one of the finest live acts around. Their hip-shakingly powerful mixture of jazz, funk and boogaloo is in the finest traditions of 60's Blue Note artists such as Lou Donaldson, Cannonball Adderley, Grant Green and Jimmy McGriff. A filthy DB Cargo Class 66 66138 hauls 6V69 East Peckham Tip to Southall along the Medway Valley at Nettlestead, yet another diversion requiring a reversing manoeuvre at Hoo.
Evidently, the owner of this house just up and left it one day moving to Seattle. Chatty neighbors tell us she owed back property taxes and maybe she was running from payment collection. The house dates back to late 1900's when the railway was active and bustling with activity. It sits rotting away, filled with black mold and garbage. This is the kitchen.

For years, 508114 was allowed to cruise the network in frankly appalling external condition - it must have been amongst the tattiest EMUs in the country. This photo, taken at Birkenhead Park on 02/08/02, shows some of the wear and tear.
The damage to the black stripe evidenced here led, in 2000, to the adoption of a much-improved revised Merseytravel livery with just the grey stripe present.
What appears to be an old abandoned power plant just outside the downtown buisiness district in Philadelphia.

"Before: The moment the kids wake up, they go outside to play with the neighbors and go home before noon looking and smelling filthy - wearing a cheap scent that strongly reminds you of sweat, because yes it is, sweat. Sometimes they find themselves owning an inexpensive black gold necklace composed of natural materials - sweat and dust - after hours of playing outside and draw out loud scolding from their moms even if they already have bruises on their hands and knees they got probably from a fist fight with the other faction of the neighborhood.

They are more preoccupied with computer games that eats up their time that should be spent socializing with the neighbors and experiencing things that their parents, their parents' parents and their fore-parents have done."
