Old Medium Format Film Camera - Hasselblad 501CM
Film - Fujifilm Velvia 50
Photograph taken January 2021
Taken just outside Salisbury, Wiltshire, England, I took this shot just after the snow had fallen and not long after sunrise. Snow is not that common in the South of England, so a joy when we get it.
I photograph this oak quite often as it’s on the walk to Bentley Wood, a forest not that far from our house. The tree sits in Dean Farm and in the background Bentley Wood is just visible. I love this tree as it seems so lonely all on its own in the field, a field that changes colour with every season.
It was taken on an old Hasselblad 501CM and on Medium Format Film. I used a slide film, Fujifilm Velvia 50, a notoriously difficult film to expose correctly. Luckily, I do have an exposure meter and underexposed it slightly to add to the overall feeling of the scene. You will never get the dynamic range of modern-day digital cameras, but I love the contrast between the tree and snow as it gives a very dramatic effect.

Thanks FOTO-PLUS d.o.o. for being patient with the new-fangled film photo enthusiast.
Did not write down the aperture data which I regret.
Nor the date taken is fully correct (+/- 1 day).
Photo was taken while on the 'spiritual exercises' at the beautiful sanctuary of the Saint Maria Crocifissa di Rosa in Kamen, Split.
Due to the expiration date of the film, it was exciting to see the green tint on all of the photos. Nevertheless, color balance had been done to counter the green tint, but not way to much so that original mood is preserved.

Using my scanner then taking the negative of the film strip
