The Kodak Gold 200 film produces lovely tones and understated (natural) colours. Looking at the detail in the shadows we can see it has a good dynamic range as well.

At 7 metres high this is one of the most impressive public fountains in Australia. It is the centrepiece of Princes Square. Designed in Paris by sculptors Michel Joseph Napoleon Liènard (1810-1870) and Mathurin Moreau (1821-1912), it was first displayed at the Paris Industrial Exhibition of 1855. The local municipality decided to buy it to celebrate the completion of Launceston's new reticulated water supply. It was installed in 1859.

This was taken with a praktica bc1 kodak colour 200 edited too black and white .

This building on the Woolmers Estate was originally built in 1830 as a chapel. One of the responsibilities of estate owners using convict labour was that they provided religious education to their charges. Once the convict era came to a close around 1850, the chapel was used sporadically.

The Archer family church was Christ Church in Longford. www.flickr.com/photos/luminosity7/53545212307/in/dateposted/ . From 1890 the chapel functioned under the auspices of the Longford Baptist Tabernacle to serve local farm workers. www.flickr.com/photos/luminosity7/53544563640/in/dateposted/

In 1910, Thomas Archer IV turned the chapel into a cider house. Using the apples grown in their nearby orchard, they produced a cider that was marketed locally.

It is often said by critics of film photography that when we get a vintage camera in our hands (and especially with black and white film) we tend to photograph old things. Perhaps there's something in that, at least psychologically. Are we looking for timeless things? I'll be trying colour film next, so it will be interesting to see what subjects choose themselves for me.

This Victorian gatekeeper's cottage is one of my favourite buildings in Launceston. It stands beside the entrance to the City Park gardens and these days houses the community radio station City Park Radio and their radio museum.
