Hopefully I have these the right way round! Taken with my Polaroid Spirit at Mudeford beach, Dorset.
There are few more relaxing and cozy things that these moments in the home surrounded with the family, with good people, after eating, chatting, sharing good moments and recollections. A coffee. A classic movie in the TV. Tranquility. Human heat.
And it is surprising that in the memory of the recent humanity (at least of the one that can allow it them), this contradictory device, which provokes loves and hatreds, which it attracts us and it us repels simultaneously, that is the television, has occupied already an unremovable, immutable place, as if he was one more member of the family. Many of the domestic images that I have (and I believe that great more people also), have of bottom some television’s series, some sticky melody, some indelible image.
That is this, a small honoring to these domestic moments with television …
(And by the way, let's take advantage of this as a small game: does someone know what movie is the one that they were emitting by television in the moment of the photo? ;-) )

Hay pocas cosas más relajantes y acogedoras que esos momentos en el hogar, rodeado de la familia, de buena gente, después de comer, charlando, compartiendo buenos momentos y recuerdos. Un café. Una pelÃcula clásica en la tele. Tranquilidad. Calor humano.
Y es sorprendente que en la memoria de la humanidad reciente (al menos de la que se lo puede permitir), ese contradictorio aparato, que provoca amores y odios, que nos atrae y nos repele a la vez, que es la televisión, ha ocupado ya un sitio inamovible, inmutable, como si fuera un miembro más de la familia. Muchas de las imágenes hogareñas que tengo (y creo que mucha más gente también), tienen de fondo alguna serie de televisión, alguna melodÃa pegadiza, alguna imagen imborrable.
Que sea este, un pequeño homenaje a esos momentos caseros con televisión…
(Y de paso, aprovechemos esto como un pequeño juego: ¿alguien sabe qué pelÃcula es la que estaban pasando por televisión en el momento de la foto? ;-) )

Canon touts this as: "The world's first camera of its kind to feature X-sync for Speedlites. The camera's precision and finish was high. A historic model in Japan's camera history." It's a pretty good camera and easily the equal of the Leica's that it copied. It's combined range/view finder is better. The flash bar has a quirky accessory that can be used instead of the flash gun to fire a flash on the cold shoe. So far that gadget has eluded me.
The shutter speed dial has knurling so sharp that it quickly provides the user with some tender places - just before the callouses grow. The Leica dial is a bit bigger an far more gentle on the fingers. I love them all.
Well, I figured I should get my lazy butt up and upload some photos. There are a bundle sitting on my computer, I just haven't had the motivation. I've been super busy with work, and my life is just sort of a mess right now. I hope to get more posted soon though!
In my ongoing quest to make digital art less flat, it's time to introduce the latest offering from The Shop: the analog film textures.
My wife's grand father gifted me some of his film cameras just over a decade ago. I shot some rolls of film, then promptly forgot to get them processed. I recently found the rolls, and a nice, independent lab to get them taken care of.
Since I don't know too much what I'm doing when shooting manually, the results were really funky, and captured more the artifacts of the process (gain, light leaks, dust, etc.) than actual images. That means one can overlay these on top of flat artwork, and instantly give it depth, substance, and meaning. All from real film!
Each negative strip has been scanned at ultra-high resolution (1,200 ppi+), then carefully edited, then output into 18" wide images at 300 ppi.
The resulting sixty-nine (69) textures produce interesting things either by using blending modes (Overlay, Soft light, Screen, Lighten, Color dodge), or on their own, as background elements.

I've been shooting a lot of film and finally got it developed. The first roll is from way back in May when I visited my hometown in the Prairies. It was an expired roll, and the quality of most is pretty bad but I still dig it.
The beach club below the hostal La Gavina. Nikon FM2n, Voigtlander Nokton 58mm, Film Ferrania P33, developed in Adox Adonal, 8.5 minutes

after a marathon lego morning
beds are made
and now i'm about to read
while sitting in front of our radiant heater like a cat
