On the outskirts of Caracol, an excavation called "the Raleigh Group," there are some stone platforms built by Mayans. What was built atop them is unknown, but fig trees and Cohune palms have pretty much taken over.
January 2008, machine quilted. Strip pieced nine-patch from jellyroll (Figtree Allspice), plain sashing. Backed with contrasting print, contrasting bias tape. Shown by Peter! Loved the fabric, and wish I had waited to find something more interesting to do with it.
My 79 year old Father in law (lives with us) is really loving the fresh figs. He used to grow them when he lived on Long Island NY. As well as picked them fresh in Italy as a child.
Drummond Battery was built in 1942 to protect Port Kembla. The emplacements now sit either side of the entrance to the WIN Television studios.
