It's that time of the year again, when the sea stinks and scum coats the beaches of the Capricorn Coast.

 

To someone who has grown up here, the first smell of this stuff really marks the change of season. It's really not that bad, unless you live by a tidal creek where it gets trapped and goes rotten. I did once, and a sudden rain storm stirred the rotten waters - the stench was so bad we had to leave the house.

A group of cedar waxwings enjoy ripe figs

Some species of Oxyopidae, on the fig tree in the backyard. Eating an ant. Cool!

Had a very special treat this afternoon, spent a couple of hours watching mother & baby tree-cliimbers at my home.

 

This baby is so adorable and not long out of the pouch.
