English name: Common Red-stem Fig

 

Dioecious.

Distributed in north east India, Southeast Asia, southern China, Taiwan, Ryukyu Islands, Pacific Islands, and as far south east as Australia.

 

This picture was taken in Gunung Lambak, Kluang, Malaysia.

They will never get really mature or of proper size in the Netherlands. It's simply not the right climate for them.

There aren't many fruits to compete with the fig. Its delicate texture and taste come with an exquisite biblical touch.

I love figs.

Lighthouse from North Beach

This huge fig tree was growing in the middle of a kid's playground. It looked to us like the best playground equipment of all!

I found buds on my orchid then my fig tree is busting out with gorgeous little green leaves...add the primrose blooming on my desk.....I'm in almost pre-Spring heaven! :)
