Dans le pays des fées naquit une demoiselle ;

Se presseront pour voir ta démarche mutine ;

The hens are enjoying their freedom to roam round the garden. I have four hens, all retired from egg-laying. They’re funny, affectionate, intelligent, wacky. They’re never too keen to return to their hen house, luxurious though it is. This is Fee, studiously ignoring me. Grabbed with the iPhone.

A street shot from Manchester, UK (Septemer 2022).

The 1st trip of 2023 and a trip to Slimbridge, Gloucestershire on 9th January.

The main target for today was to try and capture Northern Shovelers in flight. It started slow but got better as the day progressed.

This male Northern Shoveler was about to land on the Tack Piece lagoon.

Shovelers are surface feeing ducks with huge spatulate bills. Males have dark green heads, with white breasts and chestnut flanks. Females are mottled brown. In flight birds show patches of light blue and green on their wings.

A first-rate view of the highest peaks of the Mischabels massif near Saas-Fee: from left to right, the Alphühel (4206 m - 13799 ft), the Täschhorn (4491 m - 14734 ft) and the Dom (4545 m- 124911 ft), the highest point of the chain (the right ridge of the 2 highest ridges, to the right of the photo). On the far right is the Lenzspitze (4294 m - 14088 ft)

In Corrie Fee on my walk to the top of Mayar a week or so ago.

A beautiful and mature Alpine Ibex, overlooking his frozen kingdom, but also seemingly looking back at us with a smidge of contempt for not trying harder to protect this fragile ecosystem. Pennine Alps, Switzerland.

P.S===OLD PIC (^^,)

This lovely view was always one of our favourites back during our time in Scotland. Part of the Angus Glens the natural amphitheatre carved into the mountains after the last ice age, is part of a circular walk which also encompasses two munros. With the heather all purple it made for a fantastic day out!
