the books i read this month:

'blessings' anna quindlen

'the wizard of oz' l. frank baum

'ingo' helen dunmore

'matilda' roald dahl

'amistad' alexs pate

'the boleyn inheritance' philippa gregory

'peter pan' j. m. barrie

'rubyfruit jungle' rita mae brown

'island of the blue dolphins' scott o'dell

'rani in the mermaid lagoon' lisa papademetriou

this month i read a bunch of kids books, some that i loved when i was a little girl and some that i picked up while browsing through the kids section of the bookstore. i must say that i never expected 'the wizard of oz' or 'peter pan' to be so violent.

Now I find myself alone

The simple life's no longer there

Once I was so sure

Now the doubt inside my mind

Comes and goes, but leads nowhere

Narcissus 'February Gold' must have been named further south than New York City but it is the first tall daffodil to appear here.

South Uist, Outer Hebrides.

A fairly hefty crop from the overall image. The camera allows such a crop to enable a decent size print to be made.

Are they more beautiful, because they break the winter desolation ?

I'm feeling a little (very) nostalgic today... Sometimes it's unbearable how much I miss that view. And how unreal it feels that I was there at all.

Well, that's February done and dusted!!
