The beauty of a February day in England is not obvious!
Daylight is dim and only lasts a few hours. Waves of wet weather blow in from the Atlantic. The Arctic sends down bitter, ice cold winds. Trees and shrubs are stripped of leaf and colour. Conditions make travelling around more difficult. So there’s less people about. And grey skies do not help to make good photography.
But it’s in February that Mother Nature begins her glorious awakening from a winter slumber.
No better place to witness this than in urban parks such as here in Newsham Park, Liverpool. The song of blackbird, chaffinch and song thrush grows louder. Bluebells push through the soil to join snowdrops producing the first colour amidst the bleak greyness. Urban wildlife comes closer to humans in search of food.
But the true beauty of February may well be in the contrast we need to appreciate the lighter, warmer months of the year which follow.

I often see this car in a street close to me when I'm walking Lina.

I'm off for my first visit to the Physio Dept today, as I am having trouble with my walking and my leg muscles feel weak still. Hopefully they can point me in the right direction and things will start to improve for me. On a more cheerful note, Tim, JJ and I are going to see Rob Brydon (star of 'Gavin and Stacey' and 'Would I Lie to You') at the Guildhall tomorrow night. I hope you all have a great February!
Happy February everyone! I personally cannot believe January is already over. I decided to start the month with a self-portrait. As apartment hunting conversations really begin I've been thinking about how much I will miss our big ol' dining table that sits under a huge window.

Yesterday's "O" word was a stumper...so I guess we'll return to the high seas and study Oceanography for another day.
Today's "P" word will be a give-a-way, even as these guys have scuttled the cargo of today's letters for our word. I hope they won't get too waterlogged for you to solve the word.

I went out in sunshine without changing my camera from 3200 ISO and so had to do some severe processing, but I like the result.
