We had a decent dumping of snow overnight and throughout the morning, leaving the squirrels with no choice but to dig for the seeds they threw on the ground yesterday.

Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.

February started very snowy and cold. A reminder that winter is not over yet. Was a pretty scene in the blue hour of the morning with the frost and this Great Gray Owl on the hunt for breakfast. Taken in Alberta, Canada.

Taken at the Boat Graveyard, Purton, Gloucestershire, UK.

What's special about these pictures is that the sea is not frozen. In February, that's what it should be at 60 degrees latitude.

A shot from last February...just a few crocus in our garden at the moment, and with a drop in temperature forecast along with the possibility of wintry showers, I think the 'harbingers of spring' may get held up!

The flowers of late winter and early spring occupy places in our hearts well out of proportion to their size.

Late February, and the air's so balmy

snowdrops and crocuses might be fooled

into early blooming. Then, the inevitable blizzard

will come, blighting our harbingers of spring,

and the numbed yards will go back undercover.

Once the sun is low on the horizon it disappears in minutes , into the shores of the St. Lawrence River. It was a perfect beginning to a new month. Brilliant sun all day…...February now.

Happy Fence Friday!

I hadn't taken a fence Friday photo for awhile and I just couldn't resist this fence when I saw the late afternoon sun streaming through.

Sunny dry weather, 4C early morning.

Have a great month!

As February 2018 draws to a close this evening's sunset complete with a Starling fly-by was a perfect send off. Lurking close by is the Beast from the East bringing snow flurries, a bitterly cold wind and big, dark snow filled clouds!
