The grounds of the park were originally part of an estate owned by Ernest Royden which comprised the park, Hill Bark house and Thurstaston Common. Upon his death the estate passed to Hoylake council and was opened to the public for recreation. The park features a visitor centre, walled garden, miniature railway, woodland walks and a lake. A surprising find !!!!

Thruscross is a hamlet in the Harrogate district of North Yorkshire, England. It lies in the Washburn Valley, 11 miles west of Harrogate. The parish includes Thruscross Reservoir and a large area of moorland west of the reservoir
The garden features a cherry walk in peak flower in mid September, a fragrant daphne hedge and a magnificent waterfall with ponds as well as a large lake. There are sweeping views across the garden, gravel paths and well-placed sculptures including a magnificent sandstone sofa. The bird life is abundant and the mountain air is fresh and exhilarating. There is something in bloom to enjoy through out the year in this garden that features many rare and unusual plants. Autumn is colourful as our deciduous trees and shrubs change from green to red, orange and yellow. As winter draws to an end and spring arrives so does the flower colour as trees, shrubs, climbers, bulbs and perennials burst into bloom. The camellias are beautiful right through late winter and spring as are the blossom trees. 43073

The robin features prominently in British folklore and that of northwestern France, but much less so in other parts of Europe. It was held to be a storm-cloud bird and sacred to Thor, the god of thunder, in Norse mythology. But this one was quietly waiting for me in the Jardins de Bagatelle.
Bryce Canyon, UT
The overcast and intermittent rain in the low southwestern deserts made for days of frustration with little end in sight. The system was stalled, no breaks in the canopy, no good for photography. I laid out my Indian Country map and plotted a course north, where maybe I’d find snow in the higher deserts. It bore out. Fresh snow had moved through Zion and past the Paunsaugunt Plateau, and I arrived at Bryce as the storm petered out. I followed someone else’s trail through the forest thinking I had a shortcut to the Rim Trail, and continued on like an idiot after it was obvious they had turned back, snow to my knees and looking for oxygen in my exertion at 8000 feet. Thankfully I brought micro spikes, and needed them when I reached the beaten path, frozen and refrozen, and under the fresh inches today. There is clarity in the air after rain or snow, or so it seems. I’ve heard that the precipitation picks up dust particles, that some kind of ionization takes place effectively cleaning the air and increasing visibilty. Is it what we see, or how we see it? We learn through the lens of what came behind us, not what is ahead. And yet, some directions we look in are clearer than others. An undecided sky let the afternoon sun peekaboo features in the landscape. It dappled the horizon in degrees of shadow and light. Beyond Boat Mesa, Canaan and Tablet Top, some 30 miles away, were alight with rising mists where perhaps the storm still brewed. Beyond them is where I will head tomorrow.
Corbett’s Glen nature park features Allen’s Creek , marsh, open woodlands surrounded by hills deposited as glaciers once covered the area melted and receded.

This picture features the ornate fan vaulted ceiling at Peterborough Cathedral Church, properly known as the Cathedral Church of St Peter, St Paul and St Andrew. The warm outside light plus their interior lighting gave a glorious peach like tone to this photo.

Ha Long Bay features over 1,600 limestone karsts and islets rising dramatically from emerald-green waters. These formations, shaped by 500 million years of geological evolution, are dotted with caves, grottoes, and secluded beaches.
The name “Ha Long” translates to “Descending Dragon”, derived from a local legend. According to the tale, a dragon descended from the heavens to protect Vietnam from invaders, creating the bay’s rocky islands by thrashing its tail.
On the roof of the boat you may notice three animated drone operators who are ecstatic over a perfect sunrise. One of the sunrises I will never forget.

Edwards Gardens in Toronto features a fountain that includes a gold statue. It's located within the larger Toronto Botanical Garden complex. The fountain is a prominent feature, often seen in photos and descriptions of the garden.
Sastrugi
Sastrugi, or zastrugi, are features formed by erosion of snow by wind. They are found in polar regions, and in snowy, wind-swept areas of temperate regions, such as frozen lakes or mountain ridges. Sastrugi are distinguished by upwind-facing points, resembling anvils, which move downwind as the surface erodes. These points usually lie along ridges parallel to the prevailing wind; they are steep on the windward side and sloping to the leeward side. Smaller irregularities of this type are known as ripples (small, ~10 mm high) or wind ridges.
Large sastrugi are troublesome to skiers and snowboarders. Traveling on the irregular surface of sastrugi can be very tiring, and can risk breaking equipment—ripples and waves are often undercut and the surface is hard and unforgiving, with constant minor topographic changes between ridge and trough.
Etymology
The words sastrugi and zastrugi are Russian-language plurals; the singular is zastruga. The form sastruga started as the German-language transliteration of the Russian word заструга (plural: заструги).
A Latin-type analogical singular sastrugus is used in various writings on exploration of the South Pole, including Robert Falcon Scott's expedition's diaries and Ernest Shackleton's The Heart of the Antarctic.
Formation mechanism
White and black colors on sastrugi are not lights and shadows, they demonstrate difference in radioreflectivity of snow deposits on the windward and leeward sides of a sastruga.
Under the action of steady wind, free snow particles accumulate and drift like the sand grains in barchan dunes, and the resulting drifting snow shapes are also popularly referred to as barchans. Inuit of Canada call them kalutoqaniq. When winds slacken, the drifted formations consolidate via sublimation and recrystallization. Subsequent winds erode kalutoqaniq into the sculptured forms of sastrugi. Inuit call large sculpturings kaioqlaq and small ripples tumarinyiq. Further erosion may turn kaioqlaq back into drifting kalutoqaniq. An intermediate stage of erosion is mapsuk, an overhanging shape. On the windward side of a ridge, the base erodes faster than the top, producing a shape like an anvil tip pointing upwind.
On sea ice
Sastrugi are more likely to form on first-year sea ice than on multiyear ice. First-year ice is smoother than multiyear ice, which allows the wind to pass uniformly over the surface without topographic obstructions. Except during the melt season, snow is dry and light in climates cold enough for sea ice, allowing the snow to be easily blown and create sastrugi parallel to the wind direction. The locations of sastrugi are fixed by March in the northern hemisphere and may be linked to the formation of melt ponds. Melt ponds are more likely to form in the depressions between sastrugi on first-year ice.

Black tailed Godwit - Limosa Limosa
These large wading birds are a Schedule 1 species. In summer, they have bright orangey-brown chests and bellies, but in winter they're more greyish-brown.
Their most distinctive features are their long beaks and legs, and the black and white stripes on their wings. Female black-tailed godwits are bigger and heavier than the males, with a noticeably longer beak (which helps the sexes to avoid competing for food with each other).
They're very similar to bar-tailed godwits, which breed in the Arctic. Black-tailed godwits have longer legs, and bar-tailed godwits don't have striped wings. As the names suggest, the tail patterns are different, too.
Black-tailed godwits are much more likely to be found on inland wetlands than the more coastal bar-tailed godwit. They migrate in flocks to western Europe, Africa, south Asia and Australia. Although this species occurs in Ireland and Great Britain all year-round, they are not the same birds. The breeding birds depart in autumn, but are replaced in winter by the larger Icelandic race. These birds occasionally appear in the Aleutian Islands and, rarely, on the Atlantic coast of North America.
There is an estimated global population of between 634,000 and 805,000 birds and estimated range of 7,180,000 square kilometres (2,770,000 sq mi). In 2006 BirdLife International classified this species as Near Threatened due to a decline in numbers of around 25% in the previous 15 years. It is also among the species to which the Agreement on the Conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbirds (AEWA) applies.
In Europe, black-tailed godwits are only hunted in France, with the annual total killed estimated at 6,000 to 8,000 birds. This puts additional pressure on the western European population, and the European Commission has a management plan in place for the species in its member states.
In England, black-tailed godwits were formerly much prized for the table. Sir Thomas Browne (1605–1682) said: "[Godwits] were accounted the daintiest dish in England and I think, for the bignesse, of the biggest price."

Tbilisi has a wonderful variation in architectural features adding to the character of the city. They've wisely chosen to retain much of their architectural past unlike many cities that bulldoze their history away without a second thought.
There are two alleys in the San Francisco Mission District that are covered in murals - often painted on garage doors. This one is the only one with a fence in front. It features Iranian women who have spoken out against the authorities.

Jupiter is the largest of the planets in the Solar System, with about 143,000 km in diameter at its equatorial zone. More than 80% of its composition is hydrogen and about 17% is helium (other compounds to a much lesser extent). The planet is crossed by a turbulent dynamics that allows to distinguish bright zones and dark belts. In this unassuming image, one of its most notable features can be seen: the Great Red Spot, which is more than twice the size of our planet Earth.
I obtained this photograph by stacking of the frames of a video captured using a small Maksutov-Cassegrain Explore Scientific 127, f/15, Barlow Meade 2x and Player One Ceres-C Camera.

Plant ornament uses numerous forms of plants: leaves, flowers, fruits, taken together or separately. This is an artistic reworking of various forms of the plant world. In the hands of an ornamental artist, the original forms, scales, colors change and are subordinated according to the laws of symmetry. In stylization, all typical features of the plant are enhanced in accordance with its character, and the particular or accidental are removed or weakened. Often these changes are so significant that the original material is transformed beyond recognition. The most common plant forms since ancient times include: acanthus, lotus, papyrus, palms, hops, laurel, grapevine, ivy, oak.

This image features the Green Ibis (Mesembrinibis cayennensis), captured in Restrepo, Meta, Colombia. Known for its iridescent green and purple feathers, the ibis stands out beautifully against the vibrant backdrop of the lush Colombian environment. The bird was perched delicately on a tree branch, where its sleek silhouette contrasted against the soft light filtering through the canopy. The calm, tranquil atmosphere of the scene was a perfect match for capturing the bird’s elegant form and reflective plumage.
In terms of technique, I used a Canon R5 with a 800mm f/11 lens and a 1.4x extender to maintain the required reach while preserving image clarity. The f/16 aperture ensured that both the bird and its environment were in focus, while the ISO 1600 helped balance the low light of the forest. The resulting sharpness and depth allow the vibrant plumage and the bird’s intricate textures to come through vividly. Capturing such a shot in the wild, with the ibis being perfectly positioned, required patience, but the payoff was worth it.

From the cold winter of the last photo to the hot summer: thermal features of Yellowstone
"The Lower Geyser Basin is the largest geyser basin in area, in Yellowstone National Park. It covers approximately 11 square miles. By comparison, the Upper Geyser Basin only covers about one square mile. Because of its large size, the thermal features in the Lower Geyser Basin tend to be clumped in widely spaced groups. The easiest grouping to get to and probably the most interesting to explore is the Fountain Paint Pot area."

Stars really are my first love in photography and it dawned on me recently that I havent even shot a startrail with my Camera since I upgraded it over a year ago. I used to use an external intervalometer which is no longer needed and I can also switch long term noise reduction off with this model so i wanted to test it out with these new features. It was -2 in the garden with not a breath of wind.... once the camera was setup I went back inside the house and left it to work away. I stay in a registered dark sky area so the stars were bright and plentiful..... so bright in fact that this was shot at ISO 400. I was quite pleased with the results, Now that I know the camera can handle startrailing with even more ease than my old one, who knows what creative foreground compositions I will find.
