Drew this a couple years ago just goofin off, cracks me up. The color combo is from the dairy dad worked for.
We hosted our very first 5K run in the Virginia District on June 4th to celebrate the National Park Service Centennial and the results are in! While we congratulate all of the run participants, a special shout out goes to our first place finishers! Jonathan Gonzalez was able to break the 20 minute mark with a time of 19:40. Beth Coulman was our fastest female with a finishing time of 24:15.
We were thrilled to have such a great turnout of people who ranged from marathon runners to families crossing the finish line hand in hand. We all have our way to connect with this amazing island and on Saturday this group of energetic fans of fitness found their park on Assateague! (Photos: Krystina Carpenter)
Day 2 at Brands Hatch for the British Truck Racing Championship Season of 2021 and after Some Very Intense Battles and Superb Victories from Each of the Drivers on Saturday it was time Once again for Each Driver to Strap in and Get the Hammer Down.
The Weather Unlike Saturday was Beautiful with a bright Blue Sky during the Morning which no Doubt Lifted a lot of the Drivers Moods after Saturday had seen Very Grey and Overcast Conditions.
With Four British Truck Races Making Up the Largest Portion of the Days Events it will be interesting to see what Each Driver can do and How they Will Have to Preserve their Machinery to make it through Each Race.
With All Drivers Ready Having gotten up Early to do Final Checks and Adjustments to their Respective Cars it was Time to Get to Work and Take to the Race Track for Another Day of High Sped High Adrenaline Fuelled Action around the Brands Hatch Indy Circuit.

Starting the Day off was the Hyundai Coupe Cup A Racing Series Dedicated to the 2.0 Engine Hyundai Cars and a Large Grid of 22 Cars was Present as Qualifying Began.

In First Place Taking Pole Position and the Fastest Lap was (Alistair Dendy) in his Hyundai Coupe 2000 with a Best Lap Time of 58.735 and a Top Speed of 74.03mph. Brilliant Work from Alistair Really Pushing Hard and Keeping his Car Under Control The Entire Time.
In Second Place was (Wayne Rockett) in his Hyundai Coupe 2000 with a Best Lap Time of 59.123 and a Top Speed of 73.55mph. Amazing Job there Wayne Really Going for it and Pushing Hard.
In Third Place was (Alex Cursley) in his Hyundai Coupe 2000 with a Best Lap Time of 59.148 and a Top Speed of 73.52mph. Great Work there Alex Fantastic Driving to take P3 on the Grid for Race 1.
A Superb Flying Start to the Days Action with the Top Three Drivers in Alistair Wayne and Alex All Sitting Quite Close Together in Qualifying and no Doubt Other Drivers will also Be Looking to Fight their way Through the Field in order to try and take that Glory away from them.

Now it was the Turn of the Pickup Trucks Championship and with a Large Grid of 20 Light Weight Space Frame Pickup Trucks the Action from Yesterdays Qualifying Proved that This Race for going to be a Very Fast and Hectic One.
During Qualifying Second Fastest Yesterday it was Mark Wilson who Took Pole with Matt Simpson and Tom Jenkins Close Behind him in Second and Third Place. But out of All Three of thease Drivers who will be Brave Enough to Put their Foot Down and Go for it During the Race to take Victory?
In First Place Taking the Race Win and The Fastest Lap was (David O' Regan) in his Pickup Truck 2000 with a Best Lap Time of 52.463 and an Average Speed of 65.64mph. Amazing Driving there from David Especially through Paddock Hill Bend as the Trucks tend to Slide a lot through there but He was Keeping His Pickup Truck on Corse for a Very Well Deserved P1 Finish for the Weekend.

Next Up The Legends Cars Championship and During Qualifying Yesterday each Driver was Working Hard out on Track using the Slip Stream Technique in order to Give Themselves a Boost down the Main Straight in order to take Pole Position.
After Qualifying it was The Legends Car of Chris Needham who took that All Important Pole Position with Will Gibson and John Mickel Following Closely Behind in Second and Third Place Respectively.

This is the Jag XFR Bonneville, the fastest ever big cat as it hit 225.675mph on November 7th 2008 on the Bonneville salt flats. The car was pretty rugged, badges on the grill and wheels etc had all gone and bodywork wasn't the cleanest, great spolier!

We share 60% of our DNA with the banana. It seems unlikely therefore, that a banana-like life-form, as we are, should know the fastest thing in the universe, and even less likely that we should happen to be able to sense the fastest thing in the universe. Fortunately, Einstein, the clever chap　(banana), was aware of this.
Einstein's theory of relativity was based on the sensationalist world view of Ernst Mach, (1897, see Norton, 2010) who argued that "the physical world" is our best explanation of our sensations, the fastest of which depends upon light. Einstein knew that the fastest thing in the universe is light because he knew "the universe" is a human/banana, Bananastein, universe.
I earlier made this with a mouse, as Moustien but mice have eyes and my students were unsure as to whether mice might really be able to sense the fastest thing in the universe. Bananas react to sunlight, but that is not the point.

Not "to know" but to schematize -- to impose upon chaos as much regularity and form as our practical needs require. In the formation of reason, logic, the categories [Kant], it was need that was authoritative: the need, not to "know," but to subsume, to schematize, for the purpose of intelligibility and calculation- (The development of reason is adjustment, invention, with the aim of making similar, equal-the same process that every sense impression goes through!) No pre-existing "idea" was here at work, but the utilitarian fact that only when we see things coarsely and made equal do they become calculable and usable to us- Finality in reason is an effect, not a cause: life miscarries with any other kinds of reason, to which there is a continual impulse-it becomes difficult to survey-too unequal.

He was doing very well for himself living life as a "corporate guy", until one night he tuned in to watch the Canadian track and field championships and saw people competing that he had beat back in high school. So, he decided to get serious about sprinting. Just six years later, he won two Olympic golds. In the 100 metres and the 4 by 100 metre relay. In '98 Donovan suffered a major setback, rupturing his achilles tendon. Eventually, he started sprinting again but never won another title. So in 2001, he called it quits and got back into the business world. He's also started the 'Donovan Bailey Fund' which offers financial help to amateur athletes in Canada.

This car was originally ordered by duel F1 champ Keke Rosberg. At the time it was the fastest production car in the world. The order was placed in January of 1985 with optional air conditioning and electric windows, and due for delivery by May or june. Rosberg never drove it though. Instead he made a secret deal with an upscale dealer in Scottsdale AZ making a handy profit, under the stipulation that the Ferrari factory never know about the transaction. The single private owner maintained it very well and it shows only 8622 kilometers since new.

The World's Fastest Gamer finalists head to the spectacular luxury "The Thermal Club" for the next step of their California Dreamin adventure - they woke up in a multi-million dollar house to find their race cars parked in the garage.
This is a photograph from a set of photographs taken at the St. Coca's AC 5KM Road Race 2016 which was held in Kilcock, Co. Kildare, Ireland at 20:00 on Friday 24th June 2016. This superb road race is now firmly established again as one of the fastest and best organised road races of it's kind in Leinster. The race follows a left handed course around a well known local walking route around Laragh and in the closing kilometer runs parallel to the Royal Canal into the finish at the railway station in the town having started at the primary school close to the St. Coca's running track. In fact for several hundred meters after the 4KM marker towards the finish the course runs parallel with the railway, canal and the R148 between Kilcock and Maynooth. This geographic feature is one of only a small number with this parallel configuration in all of Europe.
The members of St. Coca's AC and the many volunteers from the local community must be given great praise for organising another fantastic night of racing for runners, joggers, and walkers. The 5KM course is very flat with the exception of short incline up a motorway overpass and makes its way along narrow country lanes sheltered on either side by hedgerows. The nice summer evening made for an enjoyable night for everyone with a large crowd gathering at the finish to cheer on participants. Refreshments and prize awards were held in the Kilcock GAA club near to both the race start and close to the St. Coca's running track.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. Tiger Beetles are often found in sandy areas and run or fly away VERY quickly when approached. It can run at 8km/hour and is technically the fastest running land animal on the planet. The fastest species of tiger beetles can run at 125 body lengths per second, over 20 times faster than the world's fastest human. Lets just say that for a human to perform the same feat in a 100m race, it would be over in 0.87 seconds. For the record, a cheetah can go to 33m/s or or 24 to 30 body lengths per second.
Interestingly, because of the speed it goes at, these beetles cannot get enough photons in their eyes (i.e. lose their vision) and have to stop after each spurt to re-orientate themselves in hunt for prey.
