Eudorcas thomsonii
a fairly small and elegant gazelle. It is one of the fastest land animals.
These are mainly grazers and prefer cropped grasses . So they have benefitted in the Serengeti/Masai Mara area from the increase in the number of Wildebeest. When needed these gazelle will also browse.

The fastest animal in the world, the world's most widespread raptor and one of the coolest. The fastest speed ever recorded by one is 389 km/h or 242 mph.
Sometimes, when you are feeling down a familiar face can make all the difference. Just seeing her face made my day. Not sure the feeling was mutual ;).
The fastest dive by a bird is that of a peregrine falcon (Falco peregrinus), which has been estimated as reaching a terminal velocity of approximately 300 km/h (186 mph) when in a diving stoop. At this point the peregrine falcon is the fastest animal.
Peregrine Falcon
The fastest animal on the planet
But fast for a very good reason., it's nutritional needs requires it to hunt down prey and the reality of that is all to be seen here in this picture
Nature simultaneously at it's most magnificent and at it's cruelest
Sometimes you just have to stop and take it in
You can travel the seven seas., climb the highest mountains., dive to the bottom of every ocean
But you'll never find anything quicker than what you looking at here
Breathtaking to think of
The Peregrine Falcon is one of the fastest and powerful birds in the world with eyes as good as telescopes and has extraordinary agility.
Hooded Crows use their intelligence to identify threats. Studies show that crows are remarkably efficient at picking out potential environmental threats. So instead of waiting until they’re attacked, crows often take proactive action to scare birds, animals, or even humans from their habitats.
One of the main techniques crows use to defend their territories is mobbing.
Some crows are happy to take on large birds on their own or in a group. This crow was on its own and showed no fear. Single crows have been observed violently pursuing eagles that are many times bigger than them.
The battle raged on but who was the winner.

A view of the main entrance to Austin's City Hall. Built of Texas limestone and sitting on the site of a once-raucous 19th Century bordello district, Austin’s copper-clad City Hall, completed in 2004, is the work of lead architect Antoine Predock, principal of Antoine Predock PC. Prior to 2004 Austin’s City Council had occupied a Municipal Building that had last been expanded in 1938, largely funded by the Public Works Administration.
Austin wanted its city hall building to fit the spirit of the city, which the Dallas Morning News has described as a "crazy-quilt vitality, that embraces everything from country music to environmental protests and high-tech swagger." The building's angular design has been widely praised. Predock has been quoted as saying that he designed the building "not as a "suit-and-tie" city hall, but rather as a reflection of the warm informality that characterizes Austin."
Austin is the capital of the State of Texas, as well as the seat of Travis County. With a population of just under one million residents, Austin is the 11th largest city in the United States. The Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos Metropolitan Area, now with a population of 2.3M, is one of the fastest growing large metropolitan areas in the country having added more than 579,000 residents since 2010.
A daytime view of Central Library as seen from the 2nd Street (Butterfly) Bridge in the Seaholm District, a former industrial section of southwest downtown Austin that has undergone a dramatic transformation into a vibrant, mixed-use urban neighborhood. Central Library is the main branch of the Austin Public Library system, which includes 20 branches, the Austin History Center, and a recycled bookstore.
Often referred to as Austin's "Library of the Future," Central Library opened in late 2017. The six-story, 200,000 sq. ft. building is designed to hold over 600,000 books and offers a living rooftop garden, reading porches, an indoor reading room and a bicycle corral, large indoor and outdoor event spaces, a gift shop, an art gallery and a cafe. There is even a "Technology Petting Zoo," where visitors can toy with some of the latest gadgets.
In 2018 Austin's Central Library was selected for TIME Magazine's 2018 list of World's Greatest Places! Culled from over 1,200 editor and expert nominations from around the world, the list highlights 100 destinations that are breaking new ground, leading industry trends and offering visitors an extraordinary experience.
With a population of just over one million residents, Austin is the 10th largest city in the United States. The Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos Metropolitan Area, now with a population of 2.3M, also is the fastest growing large metropolitan area in the country having added more than 579,000 residents since 2010.
Watching the fastest animal on the planet in action was fascinating, getting a decent shot was another story :-) after spending two days with these raptors i was rewarded with a bunch of nice inflight shots...Southern California
The fastest land animal in the world, a cheetah can reach 112km/h in just three seconds – that's faster than a sports car accelerates! Its body has evolved for speed, with long legs, an elongated spine, adapted claws to grip the ground and a long tail for balance.

The Cokes hartebeest is a large, fawn-colored antelope. It is one of the fastest antelopes and most enduring runners. These qualities gave rise to its name, which means “tough ox.” Its sedentary lifestyle seems to inhibit the mixing of populations and gene flow; as a result, there are several subspecies of hartebeest.
Hartebeest are mainly found in medium and tall grasslands, including savannas. Adult females are often accompanied by up to four generations of their young. Female offspring remain close to their mothers up to the time they give birth to calves of their own. Even male offspring may remain with their mothers for as long as 3 years, an unusually long bonding period. As groups of females move in and out of male territories, the males sometimes chase away the older offspring. Their mothers become defensive and protect them from the males.
Although bachelor herds of young males are also formed, they are less structured than those of some antelopes, and age classes are not as conspicuous.
The hartebeest feeds almost entirely on grass but it is not very selective and quite tolerant of poor-quality food. Although a prolific breeder and even a dominant species in some areas, the hartebeest has probably suffered the greatest reduction in range of all African ruminants. This is both because it is easily hunted (being relatively sedentary), and because its diet is almost equivalent to that of cattle—it must compete for food resources. Wikipedia
The Pronghorn, North America's fastest mammal, has extra-large lungs and heart to pump oxygen and blood through its system and enable it to sustain high speeds across the open prairie. And the northern prairie this year is spectacularly green. We had a good amount of rain in May and June, on top of the meltwater from a decent winter snow pack. Haven't seen it this green for a few years!
This Pronghorn buck is galloping through a crop field - not wheat, maybe canola. Running effortlessly. Born to run.

Other large companies are also based here, such as Vifilfell hf, the largest brewery in Iceland, which produces the famous Kaldi beer.
The Golden Eagle is one of the largest, fastest, nimblest raptors
Lustrous gold feathers gleam on the back of its head and neck; a powerful beak and talons advertise its hunting prowess.
The sun rose as it dropped from the skies hunting for prey and I had a few seconds to take the image, it did not make any sound.
Look closely at the claws in my image. Best view large.
Tricky photography of a fast moving large Bird whose wingspan is 1.8 to 2.34 metres (5 ft 11 in to 7 ft 8 in). The wingspan of golden eagles is the fifth largest among living eagle species.. The sun had just risen and the snow is white so all the settings on the camera have to balance without the snow being grey or blown highlights.
The Golden Eagle is usually the largest bird of prey in the regions where it lives. Some individuals are blackish-brown; others are golden-brown and have a more patterned plumage. This variation in plumage pattern, in part, has to do with the fact that golden eagles are always replacing their feathers (molting). Old feathers look faded while fresh ones look darker.
The Golden Eagle is the most common official national animal in the world—it's the emblem of Albania, Germany, Austria, Mexico, and Kazakhstan.

You are looking at a miracle of evolution., this is the worlds fastest bird.,, and this is a young but fully grown female which is bigger and more powerful than her male counterparts (natures way of preventing predication) meaning she is the ultimate falcon.
I don't usually get into any photographic technical., but this was an interesting one. The weather was poor (you can see the raindrops) and she landed in a nearby tree. To get a closer picture I decided to put on the x1.4 converter and I took some reasonable shots. I knew she would eventually fly off., but expected it would be sideways or backwards because that is what they always do.,right? wrong!
Suddenly the fastest bird in the world is flying straight for me., and I have an overpowered prime lens in low light.
Put the shutter speed up and the ISO goes through the ceiling! Plus the tracking on a quickly closing object simply wasn't going to work
My only option was to risk as low a shutter as I dare., (800) and attempt to spot focus her when she got close enough... click!
It's for others to decide on the quality of the photograph., I can only look in awe at the fastest lady on the planet
Those mountain posts recently? No, I didn't hike up...though in the morning at the top it was brutal enough with -15, strong winds and snow being whipped around. Fun! 😁 always good to be out with the camera. Good to feel the elements. At the halfway station later in the day, the sky cleared, snow still being blown off the trees. This shot is riddled with imperfections, but who cares, for all the problems with the image it reminds me of a grand day out after a long time with no landscape opportunities.
A bison bull (the largest land animal in North America) strides across the mixed-grass prairie with a pronghorn doe (the fastest land animal in North America) in the background. I was lucky to see this shot coming. We were watching this mature bull stride across the prairie and I could see that, if he continued on the same path, he would pass between us and the pronghorn. When he reached the right spot a single click was enough to get the shot. Badlands National Park, SD.
A few more Badlands wildlife images to come...
The Pronghorn is the fastest land mammal in North America. In this image, the speedy Pronghorn buck is backed by the largest land mammal in North America, the Bison. South Dakota has healthy populations of both species occupying similar habitats, including Custer State Park where this shot was taken.
They don't travel particularly fast, but they know how to get the whole shift done in 2 hours or less that's for sure.
A small herd of Pronghorn, the fastest mammal in North America, assessing the potential threat of the rolling red Toyota blind. Inside the RRTB: Page the photographer and Tsougrianis the filmmaker. Outcome: after posing in nice morning backlight, this group joined the larger group and meandered away from the park road. Several mature bucks worked to round up the stragglers. Fun to watch.

Staple.
The Turtle Doves have returned to Staple. There were 3 feeding in the field and one was purring from a nearby tree, so 4 birds at least.
The turtle dove is the UK's fastest declining bird species and is on the brink of extinction here.
In the UK now they are mainly a bird of southern and eastern England although their range does extend further north and west. Best looked for in woodland edges, hedgerows and open land with scattered bushes. These birds are more often heard than seen and their distinctive, gentle, purring song has long been a characteristic sound of summer.
