Pink Ceiba, the flowers of the world's fastest growing tree. The inside of its trunk is so soft that it has 4 inch spikes to protect it from predators... giving it its nickname, Monkey Tree, because a agile monkey can climb it!
The Ceiba tree figures an important part in the mythologies of pre-Columbian Mesoamerican cultures. Several Amazonian tribes of eastern Peru believe deities live in Ceiba tree species throughout the jungle. The Maya civilization believed that Yaaxché, often depicted as a Ceiba trunk, connects the planes of the Underworld (Xibalba), the terrestrial realm and the skies. Unmistakable clusters of thick conical thorns on the Ceiba trunk were reproduced during the Classical Period on ceramic burial urns and incense holders by the southern lowland Maya.
Modern Maya still respectfully leave the tree standing when harvesting forest timber. The Ceiba tree is represented by a cross and serves as an important architectural motif in the Temple of the Cross Complex at Palenque.
Ceiba pentandra produces a light and strong fiber (kapok) used throughout history to fill life preservers, mattresses, pillows, tapestries, and dolls. Kapok has recently been replaced in commercial use by synthetic fibers. The oils of Ceiba seeds are extracted to make soap and fertilizers. The Ceiba continues to be commercialized in Asia especially in Java, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines.

The fastest 4 seater production car in the world at the time (unveiled in September 1969)
V8 engine 5.3-liter (5340 cc)
Bosch fuel injection
power: 315 CV
acceleration 0-100 km/h: 5.9 seconds
top speed: 257 km/h
production: 402 DBSV8s were built (1969-1972)
From 1969 through 1972, Aston's flagship model was the DBS V8. Though the body and name was shared with the six-cylinder DBS, the V8 sold for much more. The body was a modern reinterpretation of the traditional Aston Martin look, with a squared-off grille and four headlights (though some consider the styling derivative of the early Ford Mustang). Distinguishing features of the V8 model are the larger front air dam and lack of wire wheels, though some six-cylinder DBS cars also used the V8's alloy wheels. The tail lights were taken from the Hillman Hunter.

MALAYSIAN INVASION MMA FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIP LAUNCHED
Tune Talk’s initiative to develop world’s fastest growing sport amongst Malaysians
KUALA LUMPUR, 6 FEBRUARY 2013 – In acknowledgement of the rapidly growing popularity of the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) as a mainstream sport across Asia and globally, Tune Talk Mobile Prepaid today launched the Malaysian Invasion MMA Fighting Championship (MIMMA FC) with the aim of further developing and promoting the sport amongst Malaysian youths.
Offering cash prizes totaling RM150,000, MIMMA FC is going to be the first professionally managed pan-Malaysian amateur fighting championship with around 500 participants expected at the two-day preliminary Tryouts to be held in Kuala Lumpur 23-24 February 2013.
The amateur championship is open to all Malaysians aged 18 and above who are medically fit.
They will be fighting it out in the Flyweight (up to 56.7 kg), Bantamweight (up to 61.2 kg), Featherweight (65.8 kg), Lightweight (70.3 kg), Welterweight (up to 77.1 kg), Middleweight (up to 83.9 kg) and Light Heavyweight (up to 93 kg) weight classes.
Participants will be assessed for their striking, grappling and sparring capabilities – the three key skills required for the sport which combines multiple martial arts disciplines like karate, taekwondo, silat, muay Thai, boxing, wrestling, judo and Brazilian jiujitsu, into a single competition. Fighters will battle it out against each other inside a specially-designed 900 sq. ft. metal enclosure and presided by professional referees and judges.
From the Tryouts, 112 participants will proceed to the Ladder Match round that will take place 23-24 March 2012. This will be followed by the Quarter Finals on 20-21 April 2013 and Semi Finals on 18 May 2013. The MIMMA FC Champion for each weight class will be crowned at the Grand Finals is scheduled for 15 June 2013. All the rounds will be held in Kuala Lumpur.
MIMMA FC is the brainchild of YB Khairy Jamaluddin and Tune Talk CEO Jason Lo, who had previously partnered for the hugely popular and successful reality football talent search show, ‘MyTeam’.
MIMMA FC co-creator YB Khairy Jamaluddin said: “We would like to see more Malaysians get involved and excel in sports and MIMMA FC is a great avenue for youths out there to prove their skills and capabilities. Being the fastest growing sport in the world, it is crucial that we nurture and develop local talents in MMA from now and we hope to see more Malaysian MMA Champions at the regional and global levels.”
Tune Talk CEO Jason Lo said: “We are organising MIMMA FC to cater to the rapidly growing interest towards MMA in Malaysia. Through this championship we seek to unearth amateur talents from the grassroots who can potentially be groomed to become professionals. MIMMA FC will be an excellent platform for all MMA enthusiasts who have been training and participating in MMA activities. MIMMA FC will enable them to compete in a professionally-managed championship with proper rules and regulations, which ensures safety despite the aggressive nature of the sport.”
The launch of MIMMA FC here today was attended by scores of gym owners and MMA trainees in strong support of the initiative. Also present was ONE Fighting Championship (ONE FC) Senior Commercial Director, Maja Grimnitz.
“Organising MIMMA FC is a natural continuity to Tune Talk’s sponsorship of the ONE Fighting Championship that just concluded to a roaring success last Saturday. The packed Stadium Putra where the ONE FC was held is a clear testimony to the popularity of MMA amongst Malaysians. We trust MIMMA FC will receive similarly generous support from the community and we look forward to corporate partnerships and sponsorships to ensure an even bigger success,” added Jason.

"Rosedale is a neighbourhood in central Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was formerly the estate of William Botsford Jarvis, and so named by his wife, granddaughter of William Dummer Powell, for the wild roses that grew there in abundance. It is located north of Downtown Toronto and is one of its oldest suburbs. It is also one of the wealthiest and most highly priced neighbourhoods in Canada. Rosedale has been ranked the best neighbourhood in Toronto to live in by Toronto Life. It is known as the area where the city's 'old money' lives, and is home to some of Canada's richest and most famous citizens including Gerry Schwartz, founder of Onex Corporation, Adrienne Clarkson, the 26th Governor General of Canada, and her husband, the author John Ralston Saul, as well as David Thomson, 3rd Baron Thomson of Fleet of the Thomson Corporation, the latter of whom is the richest man in Canada.
Rosedale's boundaries consist of the Canadian Pacific Railway tracks to the north, Yonge Street to the west, Aylmer Avenue and Rosedale Valley Road to the south, and Bayview Avenue to the east. The neighbourhood is within the City of Toronto's Rosedale-Moore Park neighbourhood. The neighbourhood is divided into a north and south portion by the Park Drive Ravine.
Toronto (/təˈrɒntoʊ/ tə-RON-toh; locally [təˈɹɒɾ̃ə] or [ˈtɹɒɾ̃ə]) is the capital city of the Canadian province of Ontario. With a recorded population of 2,794,356 in 2021, it is the most populous city in Canada and the fourth most populous city in North America. The city is the anchor of the Golden Horseshoe, an urban agglomeration of 9,765,188 people (as of 2021) surrounding the western end of Lake Ontario, while the Greater Toronto Area proper had a 2021 population of 6,712,341. Toronto is an international centre of business, finance, arts, sports and culture, and is recognized as one of the most multicultural and cosmopolitan cities in the world.
Indigenous peoples have travelled through and inhabited the Toronto area, located on a broad sloping plateau interspersed with rivers, deep ravines, and urban forest, for more than 10,000 years. After the broadly disputed Toronto Purchase, when the Mississauga surrendered the area to the British Crown, the British established the town of York in 1793 and later designated it as the capital of Upper Canada. During the War of 1812, the town was the site of the Battle of York and suffered heavy damage by American troops. York was renamed and incorporated in 1834 as the city of Toronto. It was designated as the capital of the province of Ontario in 1867 during Canadian Confederation. The city proper has since expanded past its original limits through both annexation and amalgamation to its current area of 630.2 km2 (243.3 sq mi).
The diverse population of Toronto reflects its current and historical role as an important destination for immigrants to Canada. More than half of residents were born outside of Canada, more than half of residents belong to a visible minority group, and over 200 distinct ethnic origins are represented among its inhabitants. While the majority of Torontonians speak English as their primary language, over 160 languages are spoken in the city. The mayor of Toronto is elected by direct popular vote to serve as the chief executive of the city. The Toronto City Council is a unicameral legislative body, comprising 25 councillors since the 2018 municipal election, representing geographical wards throughout the city.
Toronto is a prominent centre for music, theatre, motion picture production, and television production, and is home to the headquarters of Canada's major national broadcast networks and media outlets. Its varied cultural institutions, which include numerous museums and galleries, festivals and public events, entertainment districts, national historic sites, and sports activities, attract over 43 million tourists each year. Toronto is known for its many skyscrapers and high-rise buildings, in particular the tallest free-standing structure on land outside of Asia, the CN Tower.
The city is home to the Toronto Stock Exchange, the headquarters of Canada's five largest banks, and the headquarters of many large Canadian and multinational corporations. Its economy is highly diversified with strengths in technology, design, financial services, life sciences, education, arts, fashion, aerospace, environmental innovation, food services, and tourism. Toronto is the third-largest tech hub in North America after Silicon Valley and New York City, and the fastest growing." - info from Wikipedia.
The fall of 2022 I did my 3rd major cycling tour. I began my adventure in Montreal, Canada and finished in Savannah, GA. This tour took me through the oldest parts of Quebec and the 13 original US states. During this adventure I cycled 7,126 km over the course of 2.5 months and took more than 68,000 photos. As with my previous tours, a major focus was to photograph historic architecture.
On this trip I had a surprise 4 day layover in Toronto.

Telemedicine: Future of Healthcare
Telemedicine is one of the fastest-growing domains in the healthcare industry. Telemedicine is the practice of providing healthcare services like evaluation, diagnosis and treatment to the patients using telecommunication technology where both the healthcare provider and patient are present at different locations.
Telemedicine, in today’s time, provides effective connectivity when the patients and the healthcare giver (physician/ doctor) due to different circumstances are unable to present at the same place and same time.
The higher demand from working professionals, easy to use services (user-friendly applications & software system), time-saving, cost-effective services, healthcare broker (health insurance) and technological progress in healthcare are some of the factors which are expected to drive the Telemedicine market in upcoming years.

This is a photograph from a set of photographs taken at the St. Coca's AC 5KM Road Race 2017 which was held in Kilcock, Co. Kildare, Ireland at 20:00 on Friday 30th June 2017. This superb road race is now firmly established again as one of the fastest and best organised road races of its kind in Leinster. The race follows a left handed course around a well known local walking route around Laragh and in the closing kilometer runs parallel to the Royal Canal into the finish at the railway station in the town having started at the primary school close to the St. Coca's running track. In fact for several hundred meters after the 4KM marker towards the finish the course runs parallel with the railway, canal and the R148 between Kilcock and Maynooth. This geographic feature is one of only a small number towns with this parallel configuration in all of Europe.
The members of St. Coca's AC and the many volunteers from the local community must be given great praise for organising another fantastic night of racing for runners, joggers, and walkers. The 5KM course is very flat with the exception of short incline up a motorway overpass and makes its way along narrow country lanes sheltered on either side by hedgerows. These roads offer a great contrast from the urban population of Kilcock which has grown as a satellite town of the greater Dublin area. The nice summer evening made for an enjoyable night for everyone with a large crowd gathering at the finish to cheer on participants. Refreshments and prize awards were held in the Gaelscoil near to both the race start and close to the St. Coca's running track. Running clubs and groups from all over Leinster and beyond were represented in the race tonight.

BUT..... Wait there a minute....
We take these photographs as a hobby and as a contribution to the running community in Ireland. We do not charge for our photographs. Our only "cost" is that we request that if you are using these images: (1) on social media sites such as Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, Twitter,LinkedIn, Google+, VK.com, Vine, Meetup, Tagged, Ask.fm,etc or (2) other websites, blogs, web multimedia, commercial/promotional material that you must provide a link back to our Flickr page to attribute us or acknowledge us as the original photographers.

If you do not know how this should be done for Facebook or other social media please email us and we will be happy to help suggest how to link to us.
I want to download these pictures to my computer or device?
You can download this photographic image here directly to your computer or device. This version is the low resolution web-quality image. How to download will vary slight from device to device and from browser to browser. Have a look for a down-arrow symbol or the link to 'View/Download' all sizes. When you click on either of these you will be presented with the option to download the image. Remember just doing a right-click and "save target as" will not work on Flickr.
I want get full resolution, print-quality, copies of these photographs?
If you just need these photographs for online usage then they can be used directly once you respect their Creative Commons license and provide a link back to our Flickr set if you use them. For offline usage and printing all of the photographs posted here on this Flickr set are available free, at no cost, at full image resolution.

Many people offer payment for our photographs. As stated above we do not charge for these photographs. We take these photographs as our contribution to the running community in Ireland. If you feel that the photograph(s) you request are good enough that you would consider paying for their purchase from other photographic providers or in other circumstances we would suggest that you can provide a donation to any of the great charities in Ireland who do work for Cancer Care or Cancer Research in Ireland.
Let's get a bit technical: We use Creative Commons Licensing for these photographs
We use the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License for all our photographs here in this photograph set. What does this mean in reality?
The explaination is very simple.
Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own. This usually just mean putting a link to our photographs somewhere on your website, blog, or Facebook where other people can see it.
ShareAlike – anyone can use these photographs, and make changes if they like, or incorporate them into a bigger project, but they must make those changes available back to the community under the same terms.
Above all what Creative Commons aims to do is to encourage creative sharing. See some examples of Creative Commons photographs on Flickr: www.flickr.com/creativecommons/
I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.
Don't like your photograph here?
That's OK! We understand!
If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.
I want to tell people about these great photographs!
Great! Thank you! The best link to spread the word around is probably http://www.flickr.com/peterm7/sets
This was a billboard design for the bank.
The text and the background were done in InDesign. I drew the flowery "Growing" in Photoshop, by overlaying an image of grass over some text and carefully erasing and chipping away at it until it looked right. I then added strategically placed flowers on a separate Photoshop layer. I imported the "Growing" image back into InDesign to complete the ad.
