O Prophet, why do you prohibit [yourself from] what Allah has made lawful for you, seeking the approval of your wives? And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

This Singer Sewing Machine was used by my Grandmother. She managed to take it with her during the refuge in Dachau,in the WWII and with it she earned the daily bread back in Romania,in the terrible Communist 50's,for herself, her children:my mother, her sister and brother,as my Grandfather was fired for being:^^enemy of the state^^,for being married with a German-woman.

This Singer is a reminder of the sacrifices my Grandparents did.God rest their souls in peace.

In 2016, not only is the middle-class experiencing downward mobility, but also spending less quality time together. When was the last time your family ate a meal together (or even said grace) and no one was checking their emails or texting at the table?

More common sense from the Old Testament.

Anti-Prop 8 march & rally, Seattle.

A bunch of comedians from the UK used to have a saying, "And now, for something completely different".

A friend's Facebook post inspired the idea for this image a couple of months ago. All it took was finding figures of "The Child", to bring the idea to life.

It is a very American tale. A nice boy from Kansas meets a Valley Girl from California. They fall in love and adopt a couple of orphans.

How much do those two words together scare you? I'm really sick of the media ignoring what a Falwell-loving Darwin-hating fundamentalist Huckabee is just because he gets photographed playing guitars and wants the Rolling Stones to play at his inauguration. Blech.

Dialogue: Populist President Mike Huckabee kicked off the latest phase of his Change for America plan by sentencing all gays, abortion providers, illegal immigrants and evolutionary scientists to death. The liberal reaction was predictably shrill. "Drop that axe, fiendÑor I'll write a non-binding resolution against you!" We can't air footage of females without their husbands' consent, but some hairy-legged feminazis claim Huckabee has turned America into a fundamentalist religious state. A claim at which our Minister-in-Chief can only indulgently chuckle. Silly females—how fundamentalist can a hip and edgy Rolling Stones fan be?

Lennon Lacy Death Might Be A Lynching Not Suicide, FBI Says

lyncihng north carolina

Lennon Lacy, 17, was found hanged with a dog leash and a belt on a swing set in North Carolina in August. His death was initially ruled a suicide, but an FBI probe into the matter indicate Lacy’s death may have been a lynching and a hate crime.

The FBI launched an investigation into the Lennon Lacy death due to “unanswered questions” by the coroner, and insistence by the North Carolina teenager’s family that the death was a “race-based” homicide. Lacy was found hanging from the swings in a “largely white” trailer park in Bladenboro – less than one mile from his home.

The North Carolina state medical examiner ruled Lacy’s death a suicide based upon law enforcement reports and documents from the Bladen County coroner. The Lacy family stated that the teen had no history of mental illness, and had washed his football uniform and packed his athletic bag in preparation for a big game just a few hours before he was found hanging from the trailer park swing set.

Lacy’s fellow football players refused to believe that their friend had committed suicide, especially before the big game. He had reportedly spent all summer training, and had been made the starting linebacker for the high school team.

“He was real excited, he was looking forward to doing good in the game,” Anthony White, a teammate said.

Friends and relatives of Lennon Lacy worked to share the story of the young man’s life and suspected suicide. Together, with a coalition of activists, church leaders, and attorneys, the FBI was courted to look into the teen’s death further.

The North Carolina branch of the NAACP maintains that there are several possible scenarios for the death other than suicide.

“I just want to know what happened to my 17-year-old son; all I want is justice,” Claudia Lacy, Lennon’s mother, told the Guardian. “I feel the SBI [state police] investigators interrogated me. They were not trying to find out the truth of what happened to my son, they were pushing towards a verdict of suicide.”

Lennon Lacy was reportedly in a romantic relationship with a “white woman” who lived across the road. The teenager’s mother added that multiple cuts, scrapes, and a large bump on his head could indicate that he was attacked or hit by someone. The NAACP is organizing a march in Bladenboro on Saturday to draw more attention to the case.

“I don’t believe that a thorough investigation has been done… The concern is that there’s been a rush to judgment – a desire quickly to settle any issue over the cause of death,” Lacy family attorney Allen Rogers said.

Of course the first one was when she told us, you may kiss your bride...

An Amish man and woman with a new baby walk home from church service on Memorial Day weekend.

It gets really crowded at the height of the season, sometimes elbow to elbow, and with barely room to spread out a beach towel for one's space in the sun. It is a peaceful and friendly beach with an appeal to all ages. It is one of four seperate beaches on Anna Marie Island.

When Uncle Jim passed away in 1984, his death marked what had been a psuedo relationship between his daughter and me. The last time I saw Betty was at Uncle Jim's funeral. She did, however, send my daughter, about 12 at the time, a postcard telling her how much she and her husband were enjoying their trip. Death often reveals the truth about how important money really is to some individuals. Betty's husband delivered a trunk load of rusty tools to our home and told me that was my inheritance. I thanked him and sorted through the wrenches until I found one with a Milwaukee logo. No, I did not inherit so much as a brass button off of his old railroad uniforms. Life is full of surprises, but as one ages, one finds that nothing really surprises one any longer.

Pablito is staying in the Parsonage of our church, UCC Simi Valley, with his mother, Liliana. Pablito, his two siblings and father are American Citizens, but Liliana is not. Her family legally immigrated to the US when Liliana was still in high school. She stayed in Mexico to finish her education with her friends, and when she tried to immigrate to the US to be with her family, she found, because she was now an adult, that she could not do so legally without a US employment sponsor. Her family arranged for her to be smuggled across the border to be reunited with them, but she was caught with a falsified birth certificate. She was able to cross undetected at a later date. After settling here in Ventura County, she met the man she later married and started a family with him. Gerardo works two jobs and this family was able to purchase a house in Oxnard. Over the years she has repeatedly tried to gain legal status, but because of that mistake that she made when she was 18, she is "permanently barred" from gaining legal status.

Just after Pablito was born, ICE came to her door one morning to detain and arrest her. When they realized that she had an infant, they gave her five days to arrange for his care and report to be deported. This episode was the latest in a series of instances where the person who is charged with enforcing US Immigration Law became familiar with what they were doing and used what ever discretion they had and backed down. Instead reporting for deportation, she entered into "sanctuary" in a Long Beach church where she stayed for two months before moving to UCC Simi Valley where she will remain until a final disposition of her case is made.

I've become committed to engaging in quiet witness and civil disobedience in being part of this "New Sanctuary Movement" We need sane, fair and moral reform to our immigration laws. America is stronger if this child, and his brother and sister, grow up with their mother and father.

I don't get it. Why do so many liberals still love John McCain? He's anti-choice and anti-gay and a true conservative Republican in many other ways as well.
