Chlorophyllum Molybdites, or Green-Spored Lepiota
The mushrooms were forming a large fairy ring in my yard. I've been digging them up off and on for about a month now. Poisonous.

Well, since it's felt like false spring lately, I decided to revisit another season on this winter day.
I believe--this one wasn't in the Fairy Ring like the last one I posted, like the ones coming. This one grew alone on the other side of the yard.

These flowers are common in the woods around here. This one, though, was seen in the Japanese Tea Garden, San Antonio...
Since our recent rains, quite a few of these have appeared in our fields, especially in the lower areas. They're very attractive to the flies and bees, and pretty subjects also...
The two sides of False Creek are full of interesting builidings and urban structures. For me however, it's the aquabus that's the most memorable! Aquabuses are those cute colourful boats providing ferry services for residents on both sides of the Creek. In this photo, I reduced most of the picture to almost black and white while leaving the cute boat still showing its colours, thus highlighting the sentiment that the charming boat in colour is the most vivid in my momories of False Creek, Vancouver BC.

We live close to the edge of the Canadian [Precambrian] Shield, so the bedrock lives close to the surface. The rock mountain in the the photo is from rock excavated in the building of a new subdivision. I wonder if it will have a future purpose or if it will be removed once construction is completed.

The false chief or false diadem. One of many butterflies I spotted at the Sabie River near Hazyview. The greater Hazyview area is home to half of South Africa's butterfly species.
Pseudacraea butterflies mimic other butterfly species meaning their superficial resemblance to other species results in a distinct advantage, which usually means protection or better access to food for either itself or its offspring. The real Chief butterfly

According to Wikipedia, False Kiva is a human-made stone circle of unknown origin in a cave in a remote area of the Canyonlands National Park. It requires some hiking knowledge or special directions to find. Debate rages on whether to disclose the exact location of False Kiva, as it enjoys a semi-protected status. While park rangers are required to disclose the location of the Class II site if asked about it directly, it does not appear on official maps of the park. Because of the remoteness of the location, the site itself is not protected from vandalism of any kind.
Getting there requires some rock scrambling which I am not very good at. The hubby was bound and determined to make it there and managed to succeed. He even came away with some decent shots, using his little Nikon Coolpix.

An evening in Kamloops and the Thompson River shows the evidence of just how parched the area can get. This entire area should be under water but instead, appears to have tiny inlets. The colors of the evening outline the small arms of mud and further beautify the scene. However, it all adds up to the fact that "the times, they are a changing", (Bob Dylan)
