Ptahshepses

Egyptian tomb inscriptions typically focus on the afterlife, but this door includes a unique account of the owner's remarkable life.

Born in the reign of Menkaura, Ptahshepses grew up at the royal palace and married a daughter of the next king.

Ptahshepses' career spanned the reigns of at least six further pharaohs.

King Neferirkara allowed him to greet the ruler by kissing his foot - an exceptional favour.

Courtiers normally had to kiss the ground, as pharaohs were deemed half divine.

We managed to visit the Muttart Conservatory during the flowering of the False Agave, a spiky member of the pineapple family. Apparently the plant dies after sending up its amazingly tall flower stalk, so I'm glad we got a chance to see it. The flower stalk towers over the Desert Pavilion!

I was going to take a look at the plaque they had set up in front of the plant, but I didn't get a chance to as a bridal party took over the pavilion for a photo shoot, and I didn't want to disturb them.

False Killer Whales are not a common sight on the Ningaloo but they do make a few appearances each year. They past two years they have been seen heading south in the month of September. They are often in large but sparsely distributed pods. They are not shy around boats and will bow ride.
