Scan from negative. Came across this negative in searching my family's vast ANALOG archive for some family photos for a memorial service.
This image from 2004 (I believe) and one of my favorites of my three sons. This, one of a handful from that time that inspired me to pursue photography as a hobby. This capture made with a Canon 35mm point-and-shoot (sure shot). Unbelievably, this frame a one-off on the roll. Purchased my first DSLR in 2006 - a Canon 20D.
I was walking through one of the oldest are in Victoria (Vancouver Island, Canada) and saw this matching car and the tree leaves ...it was a spectacular scene!
I had an early morning tea yesterday when no one else was around. Apparently, the dining room wasn't quite prepared for customers because the flowers on each table appeared to be a few days old. I found my vase of flowers charming enough to photograph, though.
Even when only a trickle at the end of a hot summer, this place still has a magical feel that is apparent as soon as one arrives. The sun spotlights through the canopy of interwoven branches into the clean mountain water, creating a secret hideaway where locals come to bathe, friends share picnics and lovers ignite souls. It’s impossible to feel alone here, the surrounding woods teem with life and create a sense of harmony. Ultimately it’s the constant flow of energy that comes from the falling water, that entrances all that come under its spell. It is no wonder that the ancients invented many myths about waterfalls such as these, creating fairies and water goddesses and other magical beings that enchanted unsuspecting wanderers who discovered their magnetic power. It was a place I was reluctant to leave.
One last portrait version of the beautiful trees light and colours that I lucked in on at Lake Charles. I have shot this location every Fall since moving here and this year was by far the best I have ever seen it.

Normally this shot is a little more difficult because you are facing directly into the sun. However, we arrived just after sunrise after a stormy night of high wind and rain. While there was still a good bit of wind and some rain early on, there was a lot more water coming over the falls than normal. The large amount of water, overcast conditions, the time of day, and the fall colors worked out quite well.

Macro Monday Theme: 7 Oct 19: In-A-Row
Three miniature sugar pumpkins [icing decorations] in a row. Image meets the maximum 3" size as per Macro Monday group guidelines.
I’ve arranged the mini pumpkins upon a maple leaf that I retrieved from my neighbour’s yard two weeks ago, wrapped in wax paper and placed inside a book until the perfect macro moment presented itself.
For those of you who are curious, the mini pumpkins, while sugary, are not particularly tasty in isolation… Of course, this did not stop me from eating several of them during the photo shoot ;)
I'm on the road for much of today and may not have wifi once I reach my final destination (fingers crossed!). Please understand if I take some time to respond to any comments. :)
Happy Macro Monday!
