"Falling to Papatuanuku"
ISS passing through the Milky Way, over Atea a Rangi ( Celestial Compass ), Hawke's Bay, New Zealand
So nearly 4 years ago I planned and created this photo of the International Space Station passing through the Milky Way: www.flickr.com/photos/ajecaldwell/12896918153
This photo is one of my favourite Milky Way images, and it was lucky enough to be selected as a finalist in the Royal Museums Greenwich Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2014
Since this time I have always been looking for the chance to create a similar image at a better location, and this morning the opportunity presented itself when the ISS again flew across the Milky Way during the New Moon. So I set off early to Ātea a Rangi to try to get an image.
This image is made up of 12 photos; 1 provides the base image ( with the ISS in the upper right corner entering the frame and the Milky Way and Atea a Rangi visible ) and the other 11 images were only used to transfer the path of the ISS onto the base image. The reason for creating this image from multiple photos is to ensure that the stars in the photo appear stationary, and the scene is not overexposed.
Each photo was shot from exactly the same location and contained the exact same framing.
12 photos, each shot:
Fujifilm X-E3, ISO800, f2.8, 15sec, 12mm Rokinon lens
Processed in Lightroom and stacked in Photoshop

My mom and I went for a walk and seen this spider web on a fence - the bokeh is awesome with the fall colours in the background! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Everything about this picture says fall for me, the leaves, the rain, the waterfall, the colours, pretty much everything in this image is fall of some sort. And yes, this is called Niagra Falls, it's in Canada, but it's not the big one. This one is on Vancouver Island.
Fall is here again. The days are getting colder and shorter. Darker and chillier. And I am getting better and better. I needed a full year to recover. A whole year to feel like myself again. But not really myself, more like an improved version of me.
You know what? Now I can drive pretty well. Better than I used to, and my hands won't shake anymore. Now I can run like I never did before. It gives me a freedom and a peace of mind that I don't find in anything else.
Now I am stronger. More braver. Now I cheerish and value myself. I could even say that I'm starting to love myself. Can you believe?
Now I've found myself again. My passions, my desires, my motivations. They all bloomed in full force again. I've even found new ones. Filling me whole, awakening me from that emptiness that used to eat me inside. And I'm happy.
Now, I've finally faced the inner demons, the last test. And you no longer have power over me. Because I can finally look in the nightmare's eyes, and feel liberated. Feeling like every cell of my body is healing and letting go.

McWay Fall on the Big Sur coast, Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, just after sunset when the soft pastel colors dominated the seascape.

Its pretty cold and snowy here in MKE. This picture was taken a month ago. How things can change so quickly.
Quarter size hail making cells on a warm front. 50s and 70s were a few miles apart. Making extreme instability.
Saturday I made my way about 8-9 miles over the mountain from Middlesboro, Ky. to Chenoa Lake in Chenoa Ky. I'd never been there, so I thought I'd see how the foliage was in that area.
While the color was a bit better than it had been here in southwestern Virginia, it still wasn't quite peaking yet. The small lake, however, had a bit of morning fog upon it. While there, these three gentlemen launched their boat and began fishing .

It's been so mild this month that the blossom trees have sprung into bloom again. I took this a week ago, but the tree is still in flower. I wonder what triggers it? Day length? Lack of leaves?
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who celebrates it. I'm at home having a nice, peaceful, relaxing day.
