This futile shot illustrates the problems besetting the hapless tourist: being old, Old Salzburg is undergoing constant restoration. Being a tourist mecca, it is crowded in wide spots by the only place cars and buses can congregate. This was literally the best place to capture this baroque fountain: slightly off center and with construction in the background. The taxis, tour buses, and packs of roaming Chinese obscured all other aspects.
I was given this puzzle last August for my birthday. It speaks volumes about my lack of love of jigsaws, when you realise that it was only two nights ago that I finally opened it and attempted to build it.
After listening to my stream of ceaseless expletives for several minutes, my 'better' half decided to take it off me before I caused either him or the house some damage.
Now normally, this type of thing is a walk in the park for my loved one. Not this time. He huffed and puffed for quite a while and then abandonded it , and there it remains now, on the coffee table, a testament to our efforts and our failure.
Anyone want a puzzle ?

Maybe I'm getting a little fed up with flower macro's, but then you see this growing right in front of your feet. So uncomplicated and honest.
Early misadventures in Photoshop as I try (futily) to deepen the tone of a washed out sky and restore some of the detail the sun washed out. Yes, this is why G-d invented filters, I know. Let me see if I can work on this one.

In an ever-futile attempt to bring my photostream up to date (another 200 shots already today), I take you back to Friday night, when at the end of a wonderfully sunny day, we headed out to Westcliffe to watch the sun set over the hill, which must mean that there are dozens of suns in East Langdon now.

For years, the hubby has resisted buying Apple products. This year, I finally convinced him to come to the dark side. (We can finally retire our Dell Jukeboxes! Yay!)
So....to those who already own one of these, what are the funky accessories I can get for my, I mean, the hubby's new toy? :D
Attempting to re-create one of my first nighttime photography experiments.
The first time, I had used glow sticks as my lighting source. Now, I use LED pen-lights that I use in my nighttime photography.

(self-initiated: capturing true essence)
This is the piece made me a finalist in the UpStart Art competition. It's title is extracted from an essay written by Daniel Coffeen on 'Thinking About Thinking And Not Thinking.'
Inspired by a quote from Haruki Murakami’s book ‘The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle’, the painting epitomises the result of an investigation into the impossibility of ever being able to capture somebody's true essence.
I explored this via incomplete portraiture to illustrate the futile toil of understanding, with the palette present, (by squeezing paint from the tubes straight onto the canvas and painting from it) to give viewers an insight into the process.
