This guy is very curious and not very afraid.

Callimico goeldii (a species of primates from the family of marmosets). Photo from Zoo in Kharkiv, Ukraine

This is from a farm near Dawson Creek, British Columbia on a day when all of the horses were near the outside fence. The foals were quite shy and sticking close to the mares but I waited long enough for a couple of the foals to be separated from the others. The darker colt was a bit bolder and it almost seemed that he was being protective of his young filly friend.

This photo is dedicated to my friend Jenny, who most of you probably know because she is a fabulous photographer and one of the best flickr members. Nobody takes better horse photos and her grizzly shots are also world class. Well, when I think of Jenny, I think grizzlies and horses, in that order but come to think of it, her landscapes and hummingbirds are pretty darn good too!

So, this one is for you Jenny.... and if anyone needs to be steered to her fabulous photostream to see her horses, bears and more, find her here:

(by the way, hand held shutter speed 1/80, zoomed to the equivalent of 225 mm, not bad for a shaky old guy)

Friendly Beaches on Tasmania's east coast.

Fortunately the beaches are a part of the stellar Freycinet National Park. Courland Bay on the other side of distant Butlers Point is locked up by rich knobs that get well sh!tty when you walk on THEIR sand (which is a legal right for all Tasmanians). knobs.

Flapper shows that he's mostly a friendly guy. A little bit of a face-biter, but mostly super sweet and cuddly.

I know you are admiring my 3-layers of yard clothes and my fashion sense. Duck-bite-proof clothing is ALL the rage.

There's not much left of the ghost town of Friend, Oregon. Just a schoolhouse, cemetery, a mysterious concrete building, and this old general store and post office. Named after George J. Friend, the town with a brief history is just another casualty of a railroad line being abandoned and, per usual, the town followed suit. It was the final stop of the Great Southern Railroad that ceased operation in 1936.

There is much to do in the garden with all the rain we are getting. As much as I want the rain to stop for a bit, my garden is happy. When I took this picture of my Russian Sage, I noticed a face in the fence board. It seemed happy too. I do love my time in the garden. Happy Fence Friday everyone!

Nice to see Friendly Isle back in Burghead. Bonny morning for it too.

"Friendly Fox” by Patti Deters. This wild fox came trotting along as I was admiring a pretty misty morning in the woods. He didn’t seem concerned with me being in his space and was standing on a small hill of grasses and weeds, looking at the camera, long enough for me to take a photo. Almost like he was saying “hello”. These canines look a bit like a dog with their long nose and pointy ears, and this one had pretty rust-colored fur and big bushy tail. The white tip on the tail is what helps identify it as an American Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes fulvous). Overlays and textures added for artistic effect. Friendly Beaches

Friendly Beaches Reserve is a 140 ha coastal nature reserve in eastern Tasmania, Australia, 190 km north-east of Hobart and 180 km south-east of Launceston. It is located on the north-east side of the Freycinet Peninsula, bordering the Freycinet National Park. It is owned and managed by Bush Heritage Australia (BHA), by which it was purchased in 1997.

Just a moment,

a quiet breath,

a settling back into yourself.

An autumn breeze slips through,

your faithful companion beside you —

could this be the grace I seek?

My hubby's gecko A little to tame and friendly for me. :~(

Despite his look, he was really friendly..and his ears were this way all the time!

The squirrels are so friendly at Greenwich Park. Always a delight when one comes this close.
