SRV is one of the largest construction companies in Finland. One has to wonder whether the Forrest Gump quote is their new pledge of construction quality.
In April 2010 I was home for a week, sick, and all I did was watch old western movies while laying on the couch. Many of the movies included scenes from this area, like Stagecoach and Once Upon a Time in the West. After a week of watching movies, I figured out that I had to visit this beautiful place. And so I did. This was shot during a roadtrip from Miami to Los Angeles in May 2011.
Many will remember this exact frame from the movie Forrest Gump: This is where Forrest ends his cross country run.
So this is the entrance to Wormsloe in Savannah Georgia, the 1.5 mile long tree-lined drive I posted here the other day. The gate is pretty magical too and I think some movie like Forrest Gump or something had a scene here? Anyway, it is a pretty cool gate and I positioned the sun to shine through to add some interest - which also added some flares :-( - but the one thing I couldn't do was remove that horrible sign right in the middle of the road... I think they did that on purpose to ruin my shot because it says something about professional photographers needing to pay a permit or something... Wonder how they decide who is a professional and who isn't...

From now on I'll also post a link to my threesixfive account too for anyone interested.
carrera infinita
.
tan entusiasta, tan densa, tan infumable, tan anguila, tan imbécil. ¿?
un día me lío la manta a la cabeza,
me rasgo unas branquias, me engancho cien pies y me pongo a correr.

This movie would always hold a special place in my heart .It was captivating to say the least. It was my first brush with popular American culture - The baseball games, the pop stars, the significance of Vietnam war ,the southern American drawl and yes the Nike footwear. It tells you don't necessarily have to be smart to be successful.I can watch it a 100 times on a lazy Sunday afternoon .Tom Hanks completely blew me away with his child-like innocence back then and Today, a decade later he still has the same effect on me.
Not Forrest Gump's bench, but an interesting one nonetheless.
Historic Downtown Savannah, Georgia
Long recognized as 'the most beautiful city in America."
There is this place on the side of the road as you are coming into Monument Valley from the Utah side where they have a sign that marks the spot of a famous movie scene where the infamous Forrest Gump ended his cross country run. I remember the scene well. It's kind of fun when you are there to go out into the middle of the road and re-enact the scene and get a snapshot. If you are ever headed that way, be sure to watch for it. I looked for and found it on Google Earth before I drove down there so that I would know the approximate location.
The central character of the Oscar-winning film Forrest Gump made an investment in Apple in the 1970s. It is estimated that the stock would be worth under 7bn today.

So for this weeks #FlickrFriday theme #LifeIsLikeABoxOfChocolates I decided to interpret the scene and this is my image. This was a great theme this week, giving me many ideas to explore.
An iconic scene which any movie lover will recognise. This road on the way to Monument Valley was well run by Tom Hanks in the motion picture "Forrest Gump"
southern Utah. Cathedral Valley is in front of you, and to the left of this picture are the Mittens. Beyond Cathedral Valley about 3 miles ahead is the Arizona border. This is about the spot where Forrest Gump stopped running, and wanted to go home.

Noted locally as the spot where Forrest Gump turned around when he reached the other side of the country. This light looks really small in most pictures, but as you can see it still has dwarfing powers.
Marshall Point Light Station was established in 1832 to assist boats entering and leaving Port Clyde Harbor. The original lighthouse was a 20-foot (6.1 m) tower lit by seven lard oil lamps with 14-inch reflectors.
The original tower was replaced with the present lighthouse in 1857. The lighthouse is a 31-foot (9.4 m) tall white brick tower on a granite foundation. The tower was originally lit with a 5th order Fresnel lens. A raised wooden walkway connects the tower to land.
The light station was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
The lighthouse appeared in the 1994 film Forrest Gump.
The light station was transferred to the town of St. George in 1998 under the Maine Lights Program. The fog signal has been dismantled but the bell remains on display. (Wikipedia)
There are about 10 books that I haven't read or half-read. Lying around on my bookshelf. Jiggling office and the 365 together is too much.
Backlogs in 365. I've been taking a picture almost every day. Just don't upload them as regularly.
If only there were 48 hours in a day! I would read all those books and more. By myself on my bean bag. With a cup of coffee in the balcony. Alas!
Mental note to self: Have to create more time.

..... Gary Sinese's words, today, September 11, 2012
TEMECULA, Calif. -- Actor Gary Sinise took on a different role in Temecula Today, 9/11/2012.
Sinise, well-known for his roles including Lt. Dan Taylor in Forrest Gump (1994), performed with his charity band to help a Camp Pendleton Marine wounded in battle. Corporal Juan Dominguez lost his right arm and both legs when he stepped on an IED in Afghanistan. Proceeds from the concert built Dominguez a new home, custom made for his needs.
Sinise teamed up with the Tunnel to Towers Foundation -- NAMED AFTER A NEW YORK FIREFIGHTER who died on September 11, to help build homes for America's most wounded. The organization has helped build 11 homes all around the country. Dominguez' new home came equipped with an elevator and therapeutic pool. He said he thanked Sinise, but says the actor is a humble guy. "He's like a modern day Bob Hope, he's a good guy. I am just proud of my country. People say there's so many who don't care, but when I look at this crowd it makes me proud to be an American," said Dominguez.

Almost two decades ago, a little movie called Forrest Gump opened with a scene in which a feather floated down from a church steeple to Forrest's lap while he was sitting on a bench in one of Savannah's beautiful town squares (Chippewa Square, to be precise). This is the church that was featured in the opening scene.

No wonder the Lions are doomed!! Ford bought the Detroit Lions on the same day Kennedy was assassinated! They were doomed from the begining.
These were some old newspapers my father saved over the years that he pulled out of his storage. I am photographing them for reference.
