These images are from a recent trip to the American Southwest, with destinations of Arches National Park (Utah) and Monument Valley (Arizona). With me on the trip was Charlie Chapman 75 . We camped at both locations to have a better opportunity to photograph early and late in the day.

Life is like a box of chocolates ... you never know what you're gonna get.

Last night we attended our "first" Chocolate Festival! Never thought there was such a thing as "TOO MUCH CHOCOLATE" . . . these were created by students from Johnson & Wales Culinary Institute in Rhode Island! The event was a fundraiser for a local high school.

"Momma always says there's an awful lot you could tell about a person by their shoes" - Forrest Gump

So after making a list of several possible quotes I started to play around with a few ideas. Not having the time to shoot anything in natural daylight I was limited (again) to shooting something indoors. A few failed attempts later I started on this quote, several shots later and a bit of editing I had an image I was relatively happy with. Not one of my best photographs but a photograph none the less.

So people, what do my shoes say about me???

Thanks as always for your views and your comments, I really do appreciate them.

This is the spot in the movie Forrest Gump where Forrest stopped running and decided to return home.

A major scene from the 1994 movie Forest Gump was shot at this location. Forest (Tom Hanks) had been running back and forth across America and suddenly decides to stop running at this point. The Valley of the Gods is a scenic sandstone valley along Highway 163 near Mexican Hat in San Juan County, Southeastern Utah. It features stunning buttes, pinnacles and other geologic formations. Blue Lives Matter - All Lives Matter

The Richard V. Woods Memorial Bridge, (known locally as the Woods Bridge) is a swing bridge that connects downtown Beaufort with Lady's Island and the outer Sea Islands in Beaufort County, South Carolina. The bridge is named in memory of Richard V. Woods (1935–1969), who was a South Carolina Highway Patrol officer killed in the line of duty and was opened on December 17, 1959, having replaced an earlier swing-bridge that was built 1927.

The bridge swings on its central axis to open for boat traffic which is too tall to clear the bridge, and has an operator's station in the center of the span from which an attendant can operate the bridge. Due to the presence of the Intracoastal Waterway, the bridge is required to frequently open for boat traffic to pass through.

The bridge was featured in the film Forrest Gump (1994) as a stand-in for a bridge across the Mississippi River. In the film, Forrest Gump is interviewed by television reporters about his cross-country running trip while crossing the bridge.

no name. and it reminds me of forrest gump. :)

Hey there, welcome to Beaufort, South Carolina! This town is seriously charming, like a freshly baked pie straight out of the oven. And speaking of irresistible, let's talk about the Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park. This place is like a siren's call for visitors, with its stunning views of the bay and tons of dining options, shops, and art galleries. It's no wonder that this park has become an iconic part of downtown Beaufort and the go-to spot for the city's many annual festivals and events. Seriously, there's always something exciting happening here, from the Beaufort Shrimp Festival to A Taste of Beaufort: Music, Arts & Seafood Festival, and the Beaufort Water Festival. My wife and I even lucked out and caught a boater casting off just moments after we arrived. Talk about perfect timing!

Fun fact: thanks to the Intracoastal Waterway, the Woods Bridge is no stranger to opening up for boats. In fact, it's required to do so frequently. But did you know that this bridge has also made a cameo in a Hollywood blockbuster? Yup, the Woods Bridge was featured in Forrest Gump as a stand-in for a bridge across the Mississippi River. So the next time you cross this iconic bridge, channel your inner Forrest Gump and run like the wind!

Mamma diceva sempre: la vita è come una scatola di cioccolatini, non sai mai quello che ti capita.

(Mama always said life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get.)

On my last night in Washington, D.C. I returned to the Lincoln Memorial, not necessarily for photography, but to reflect on my journey.

When I was a political hack many years ago I would frequent the Lincoln Memorial steps at night to take in what I believe, in my humble opinion, is one of the most inspirational views in the United States of America. From the memorial steps you can take in the views of the entire National Mall: the Reflecting Pool, The National World War II Memorial, The Washington Monument and The U.S. Capitol.

The last two years I visited the memorial the view from the steps were to say the least very uninspiring since the Reflecting Pool was undergoing structural improvements, which meant it was drained of all its water and a big, hideous fence enclosed the entire area. Without any water in the pool the iconic shot of The Washington Monument reflected in the pool was not possible. It was here at the pool that one of the most famous scenes in American cinema was filmed. Remember when Forrest Gump and Jenny ran across the Reflecting Pool to embrace one another? Now that the water was gone so was the magic.

In the two weeks I was in Washington, D.C. I would always walk past the eyesore formerly known as the Reflecting Pool. One day I was doing research for photo locations around the city when I came across a news report that the construction on the pool was done and they would start refilling the pool with water on the day before I would depart D.C. The speed of the U.S. federal government moves slower than a handicapped snail, so likewise I was not expecting them to meet their deadline.

On my last evening in D.C., I took a stroll across The National Mall toward The Lincoln Memorial. To my surprise the fence was taken down and the pool was partially filled up with water.

I sat there just enjoying the views when suddenly a tour group of high school girls approached the memorial steps and were taking pictures. I overheard one of them say, “Why is there a swimming pool there?”

“Well, like, you know, it gets hot in D.C. during the summer,” replied one girl.

I had to take this photograph just to remember the huge laugh I had that evening.

Happy Travels!

'favourite' is a really weird word and I don't think I'm comfortable with it at all.

these are my...most beloved films. i couldn't wittle it down to a smaller collection, i have a special place for each of these beauties in my heart. the black one on the right that, annoyingly, you can't see, is The Godfather II, of course.

If you have time the view on BLACK without distractions cheers Ed
