This was taken at The Hotel Hershey in their formal gardens. One 14bit NEF file was used to create this faux HDR shot from sunset using Lightroom 4.4.

Formally the “Saints Way Bridge” that links the town centre with the St Helens RLFC ground. The bridge was renamed in January 2013 to commemorate the former St Helens, Hull FC and Wakefield player Steve Prescott, who sadly lost his battle with a rare form of cancer in November 2013, aged just 39. Steve was only given months to live in 2006, yet shortly after his diagnosis he launched the Steve Prescott Foundation and in the following years raised more than £500,000 for cancer and rugby charities! The extreme ways which Steve raised the money is nothing short of super human, given that during this time he was receiving treatment for his illness. Steve remains an inspiration and legend in the local and rugby league communities and his name lives on with his foundation and this bridge.

I'm a bit behind in the weeks. Week 28, Formal

We formally adopted Hana and Archie today from the Bradshaw Animal Shelter. They had to be altered before we could adopt them, and this was the earliest time possible (given our schedules). I brought them to the animal shelter in the morning, they had their operation, we returned in the afternoon, signed papers, and picked up Hana and Archie. Here, they are in their common carrier (they are small enough so we can get away with that but we have another carrier ready for when they need to be in individual carriers) at the Animal Shelter soon before we left for Stockton. They were curious about their surroundings. At home, they ate voracious (since we weren't supposed to feed them very much in the morning, and about the same in the afternoon) and played as normal (which they aren't supposed to do). Tomorrow, their diet goes back to normal and they'll be much happier.

A nice gentlemen took this picture for us. I quickly taught him how to use the camera but I did set it on auto-area focus :)

I took the photo at a road intersection. The image which I wanted to capture was the contrast in the attire of the bike rider and the pillion rider. The chap is dressed casually in shorts and sandals whereas his wife, I am assuming this of course, is wearing a formal sari with flowers in the hair - the couple are probably going to a friend's place as this was friday evening.

I also wanted to show movement around the stationary bike, as vehicles from other directions were moving while we were at standstill (as it often happens at traffic signals, when the lights are red)! However, this being India, some vehicles on our lane, did went past as seen by the streaking motorbike behind the main subject.

Here is an outfit that I am so thrilled to finally own. It is Barbie’s Formal Occasion #1697. This ensemble was only made for one year, 1967. I was pleasantly surprised when I received it as I had only ever seen it in photographs. The fabric of the cape was not what I expected. I don’t know why, but I had always assumed it was made from that same gold lamé fabric that tends to turn more silver, the fabric used on the fabulous Mod outfit “Intrigue”. It turns out it is actually a gold Brocade fabric, with a very subtle wavy pattern that tends to get lost when photographing. The crepe fabric of the dress is also amazing, and that gold embroidery is so beautiful. I was thrilled to find this near Mint, and at a bargain. Modeling this beautiful outfit is my newest Titian Side Part. She arrived from Canada a few months ago, but I never got around to photographing her.

This the vegetable bowl. It is a good size for serving. Notice the double band of silver.
