Mineral Creek Mine, U.S. Route 550, Million Dollar Highway, Colorado
This long-abandoned shack was once part of the Red Mountain Mining District, which experienced an historic silver boom from 1882 until 1893. The silver trade gave birth to lovely towns like Silverton, Ouray and Telluride. The pathway carved into the San Juan Mountains to enable this mining is now known as the Million Dollar Highway, and driving it in autumn is a glorious experience.
But there are many scars leftover in the mountains from this mining; debris fields where the earth never recovered, leaving minerals to oxidize with red and orange hues. Decaying buildings give a sense of lost industry, all abandoned when the silver ran out. Each is a forgotten dream, now only a remnant of past effort; a small part of our shared heritage.

An abandoned house on a busy road just outside a city center.... With a garden full of old Lancia cars.... Year after year I found pictures online and I saw how the condition worsened... So sad. This picture was made when they were still in relatively good condition... More than 7y ago.... And now? Well the garden is empty....
Long before when people used to live in variety of location including deep mountain and forest. Observatory deck and pavilion were built in many appreciable scenery which these days many were left forgoten.
很久以前但人類居住在各種地形如深山和樹林中。各種觀境台和涼亭林立在優美迷人的風景前,如今卻都被大家遺忘了。
I nearly walked past this old cate, such a shame that it's no longer in use, looks so nice. Hamilton Scotland.
Hardman, Oregon
My latest find, the ghost town of Hardman is an abandonment photographers dream. Streets upon streets of zombie houses, abandoned cars and old relics.

I was pleased with this find. I had a couple of hours free so went to investigate two squiggles on the OS map. I've wondered about those squiggles for literally years. They're about half an hours drive from the house and I did get close a few years ago but had 2 sleeping babies in the car with me so couldn't take a proper look. Today was the afternoon and I was pleasantly surprised to find a deep ravine cutting through a wooded hillside on the north side of The Campsies. It is set in the grounds of an old baronial house and there is evidence of an old path running up both sides of the ravine but it is now hopelessly overgrown. This pool is near the bottom and is in the middle of a series of cascades. It is still just possible to access this spot and several moss-covered ornamental stepping stones cross the outflow. I love these forgotten corners of The Campsies.
The old Pier 9 in Philadelphia on the Delaware River, largely forgotten and little used, other than as a warehouse for stage equipment. Repurposing old structures is big news in this section of Philly, and it would be nice if someone would see this grand old building's potential. At one time there were more than 50 piers along this stretch, but only a handful remain. Rotten pilings are all the remain of a few, including one that housed Philly's version of Ellis Island.
Ester asked why people are sad.
"That’s simple," says the old man. "They are the prisoners of their personal history. Everyone believes that the main aim in life is to follow a plan. They never ask if that plan is theirs or if it was created by another person. They accumulate experiences, memories, things, other people's ideas, and it is more than they can possibly cope with. And that is why they forget their dreams.”
Paulo Coelho, The Zahir
