Old train forgotten on train station Paranapiacaba / Viejo tren olvidado en la estacion de Paranapiacaba
+++++++++++
Paranapiacaba is a village and a district of the municipality of Santo André in Brazil (state of São Paulo). It came up originally as a residence for the staff of the English company of São Paulo Railway trains - the railway that allowed the transport of cargo and people from inside Paulista to the port of Santos, and vice versa.
In the 1980s there was a working steam engine from the turn of the 20th Century, which they ran several times a day. It was originally used to pull inclined trains from the coast. You can get very close to the working parts and watch them while the engine is running.
The word paranapiacaba means "where you will find the sea" in Tupi-Guarani.

One of the many concepts I rejected for the Second Look winter 2010 show on the theme of 'Forgotten'.
This place in Keyser, WV has been falling apart for many years. I'm not sure what it used to be but I know what it will eventually be - soil.
On a very foggy winter day, a fish trap dangles carelessly from one of several poles in Lake Steinhude as seen from the shore.
Shot with an "Agfamatic 2008 tele pocket" on 110 pocket film "Tiger 200" from Lomography (yes, it's color ..). Shot in "tele" mode (43mm).
Other than the iconic oversized red shutter release, this camera has exactly two controls: "tele" or "normal" focal length and "cloud" or "sun" exposure mode (1/50s or 1/100s), aperture is fixed at F9.5. This thingy is purely mechanical, no batteries included or required! By inserting film, you more than triple the value (or should I say price) of this piece which I got for 3€ on eBay. Still: known as "Ritsch-Ratsch-Klick" camera because of the iconic film advance action, this brings back childhood memories.
Very mild crop and digital editing of lab scan.

If you ignore the DANGER sign and walk down the passageway, you'll see this forgotten store room. Originally this was part of a bonded warehouse. The walls and ceiling were originally plastered or whitewashed, but it's all decayed to dust now. The chairs and bench on the left there all have the city and royal insignia on them. They were moved out of the Council Chamber some time ago, and have been mouldering here ever since.

A former superbly carved fragment of the gardens of Kings Weston House near Bristol lies forlorn and forgotten. This must date from wither the 171o's of 1770's when new work was done on the house and undoubtedly carried a statue at one point. sadly it sits in teh former garden pavilion known as teh Eco alone and unloved
Shot on the first roll with a Weston WX7 (toy camera) Kodak 100. There seem to be a few mechanical deficiencies in the old camera, which damaged the film during winding. Forgotten theme with a forgotten camera.
Literally only about 10 meters from the shores of Lake Varna you can find his forgotten little sailing yacht. She has been here for years, and she is even visible on the satellite photos on Google Maps for those who take the time to find her. And yet I was hardly able to find any information on her. When I asked people I just get the answer that she has been there for ages, or worse, the question: is there a boat there?
She must have been beautiful once, her sleek, slender lines still speak to the imagination. Well, to my imagination anyway. I can't help but wonder where she has been , what she has seen, or who she made happy... And most of all, why was she left there, so close to shore, so close to the largest port in Bulgaria...
Recently she has seen an uptick in visitors. Photographers interested in her just because no one else is. I guess it is better that the scavengers that have stripped her of everything worth a damn, or simply no visitors at all.
You can find her at the end of a dirt road, behind the trainyard. When you find yourself in the beautiful city of Varna with nothing to do, and you fancy a change of pace, why not go and look for her. Keep her company for a little while, and in return, she might reward you with some different yet stunning views, some interesting thoughts, and an altogether different experience.
I do not know if she is still owned by anyone, nor do I know if the land you have to cross to get to her is privately owned. The dirt road leading up to her is not the best of roads, but can be safely driven on with any car.

Totally forgot to create a photo on Monday.
I spent Saturday through Monday AM at my daughter and son-in-law's place. His mother is in town for over a week. My other daughter joined us for part of the weekend.
On Sunday we all went out to brunch; then daughter #2 returned home. DD1 and SIL took the 2 mothers for a drive to Sedona; made it in time for sunset.
I drove home yesterday, then changed and went straight to the gym. Came home, had something to eat, then fell asleep - very early. So, the daily pic was completely forgotten. Instead you are getting this on Tuesday morning. ;-)
EDIT: day 133 is 1/3 the way through the year!
Peace to all!
The Forgotten Cemetery
Yesterday while walking, something caught my eye
And I walked closer, I know not why
As I drew near, I then could see
A hidden graveyard behind a huge tree
An old iron fence surrounded the ground
Where stones were still standing, all around
Over time mother nature had hidden this site
Hidden among the trees in very low light
As I struggled to get around, I then tried
To look for an entrance to get inside
I found the gate that was forged long ago
Now all covered in rust, I opened it slow
But the fence was still strong, it was made that way
To protect even to this day
But inside the gate, it was overtaken too
By thickets and vines over the area they grew
Some of the stones could still be read
I knelt beside them to see what they said
Men, Women and children were all represented there
In this tiny yard that once got such care
And as they were lain to rest in this ground
It absorbed many tears and absorbed the sound
Of crying of the many loved ones that were there
And the memories of them that were so rare
And as I walked through and read each stone
I was saddened by the thought of the memories gone
These people that lived so long ago
And the descendants of them that do not know
Of them, or about them, or where they were lain
So long ago by loved ones in pain
Their memories could perhaps bring a smile to their face
From a simpler time to this time of fast pace
Would they care that their ancestors were lain in this ground?
Would they even be happy that their graves had been found?
Would they come and visit this memorable place?
Would they clean and care, and its memory embrace?
Or would they not care as so many do?
I could only hope that this is not true
For this once beautiful spot that meant so much to so many
It would be so sad that now is not remembered by any

Sydney, Australia
This 3D art called “Forgotten songs” was my introduction to Sydney, Australia. It represents how Sydney’s animals have adapted and evolved to co-exist with the increasing urbanization and each cage contains the song of a bird that is either extinct or threatened within central Sydney. While exploring the back neighbors and hidden gems within the city, I discovered speakeasies, botanical gardens, The Rocks, the Sydney Opera House, and this alley. Hidden within the curvy streets, a hush falls on pedestrians when they turn the corner to see the bird cages and the simple gold plaque in the ground: “Forgotten songs.” I slowed my pace and looked up. Footsteps and the intertwining songs of birds were the only sounds that filled the air. Getting to a new place and one that you are about to live in for 5 months is exciting and fast-paced, and you’re filled with nerves and pure elation. But slowing down under these cages forced me to take a breath, to stop and think, and let the realization sink in that I was about to embark on an adventure of a lifetime.
