The little pools of light intrigued me - while walking through the woods in Gawsworth, Cheshire. I suspect these leaves have been well and truly trampled on by now!

The Forest Kingfisher has a dark royal blue head with pale turquoise on the back. There is a large white spot over the bill. The underparts are white. The male has a white collar, and the female has blue on the back of her neck.

Forest Kingfishers are commonly found in open sclerophyll forest with a patchy or sparse understorey. They favour watercourse vegetation and the margins of swamps and billabongs. They may also be found in mangroves, cane fields, farmlands and beaches, however they require forest and woodland for breeding.

On Sunday I joined a couple for a mushroom hunt at the Salt Point State Park at the coast of northern California. My primary objective was photography, but I was also rewarded with tasty mushrooms. I brought home delicious Matsutake, Chanterelle, Black Trumpet, and Porcupine mushrooms. This is not an edible one.

I processed a balanced, a photographic, and a paintery HDR photo from two RAW exposures, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

Taken during the walk in the forest, not far from my apartment buildings area :)

The Enchanted Forest was a great amusement park along Rt 40 in Ellicott City MD that many of us enjoyed as a child such as myself. It opened in 1955 and closed around the mid 1990s. One of the few buildings that still remain at the E.F original sight is the Cinderellas castle pictured here. (It wont be around for long though as it is all being demolished this week. Many of the Enchanted Forest pieces live on though and have been saved over at Clarks Elioak farm just down the road a ways from the original sight for kids today to enjoy too.

Winter forest is inviolability.

It has no sounds.

No color.

No life.

The forest is sleeping now.
