The Leadership Formation Institute for Hispanic Ministry is a collaboration of the Diocese and the Catholic Information Center - Grand Rapids, MI.
The Institute provides lay leaders the opportunity to learn about faith and develop skills to perform their ministries in their parishes. There were 86 participants from 12 parishes who completed the Institute. The love of God was felt during the beautiful Mass celebrated by Bishop David Walkowiak at the Cathedral and at the award ceremony afterward at Cathedral Square Center in downtown Grand Rapids on June 25, 2022.

Photos showing the conditions of Bear Creek Park and Bear Creek shoreline before our cleanup Scheduled for Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM. All the assistance from volunteers and sponsors is greatly appreciated!
This cleanups and several other re are running in April will be in conjunction with the Alliance for the Chesapeake ‘s Annual Project Clean Stream Event.
Our cleanups are part of an ongoing effort clean the entire stream by 2014 in preparation for the War of 1812 Bicentennial Celebration. (Bear Creek has been noted as one of the highlighted location on the Star-Spangled Banner National Historic Trail) The creek played a rather significant part in the Battle of North Point which took place on September 12, 1814. The British used the creek to disembark troops in their attempt to capture Baltimore. This important part of our history should not be left the eyesore it currently is.
Remember, there plenty of ways for volunteers to participate. We will need every type of person of every ability level to contribute and assist with the Clean Up. Though it is true we will need people to dig out shopping carts and haul trash to the dumpsters, we can use people to run water, food, tools, and trash bags (both empty and full) to individuals in the creek. People to sort recyclables from the debris removed. People will be needed to work the grills as well as many other less strenuous activities. We are also authorized to sign-off on Community Service and Service Learning Hours for students. The more people we have, the easier the work will be for everyone. Please feel free to pass this information on to other who might be interesting in helping as well. As my grandfather always said, “Many hands makes the work light”. We run our cleanups as a family event with all age groups welcome by developing plenty of ways for volunteers to participate.

Rockville Maryland, January 30, 2023. Council Member Will Jawando on the mic. Will has been one of the most reliable supporters of rent fairness on the MoCo Council. Around 150 activists gathered in front of the Montgomery County Council Building for a rally with speeches in favor of upcoming rent stabilization legislation. Groups represented here today include CASA, Jews United For Justice, MoCo DSA, More Network, Poor Peoples Campaign, Everyday Canvassing, Our Revolution, Young People For Progress and more. This is a powerful coalition and it is growing. Inside the housing commitee of the Council was meeting to decide when rent stabilization legislation could be voted on. By my count a majority of Council members will be in favor of some kind of stabilization, probably at the level of three to six percent. Hard to say if this will be a permanent or temporary measure. The main opponent of fair rent in MoCo is my District 1 Council member Andrew Friedson, whose famiily has been active in the real estate biz. Another thing you really need to know about Andrew is that just before the 2022 election he was sitting on the largest campaign contribution stash ($500,000+) of any Council member even though he was running essentially unapposed. Any guess where most of that money came from?

For many of the 32,000 people (27,000 men and 5,000 women) who entered the Small Fortress as prisoners, their stay within the prison was temporary and they were soon transferred to a concentration camp, most often to Flossenbürg, Auschwitz, Buchenwald, Mauthausen, and Ravensbrück. Approximately 8,000 of those transferred died in the camps.
But many also met their death within in the Small Fortress. The malnutrition, hard labor, disease, torture, and executions all created an atmosphere of death.
Through October 1942, the company Bubak was responsible for burying those that had died within the Small Fortress. After October 1942, until February 1945, the dead from the Small Fortress were cremated in the crematorium built for the Theresienstadt Ghetto in the Large Fortress.
The cremations ended in February 1945, at which time, the dead were then buried in mass graves near the execution site.
When the SS guards fled the Small Fortress on May 5, 1945, there was already an epidemic of spotted typhoid fever. Many who had survived the Nazis did not survive the typhoid fever.
At the end of the war, the Czech people created a National Cemetery just outside of the Small Fortress. Bodies were interred within this cemetery beginning in 1945 and continuing until 1958.
In total, 10,000 corpses are buried in this cemetery (including the 601 exhumed from the mass graves), unfortunately only 2,386 in individual graves.
The victims were Jews and non-Jews, of many different nationalities. All had suffered at the hands of the Nazis.

Buongiorno! Ecco la registrazione della quinta videoconferenza dei ᴍᴀʀᴛᴇᴅɪ̀ ᴅᴀ Tʀᴀɪᴀɴᴏ incentrati sulla mostra in corso, questa volta a tre voci.
I colleghi ci hanno guidato nel percorso degli interventi urbanistici avvenuti a Roma tra il 1924 e il 1943 attraverso le preziose testimonianze dei disegni, dei dipinti e delle fotografie conservati nell'Archivio Capitolino, con particolare riferimento alle demolizioni del colle della Velia per l'apertura dell'attuale via dei Fori Imperiali.

For most of today I lazed around with Sofia and her roommates. In the evening, though, we went out to Little Dipper- a fondue restaurant. It was ladies' night, so we got cheese and chocolate for only $8! We also got drinks at the bar while we were waiting for our table. I got some sort of grapefruit martini. It was delicious! yumm

Quick note here, we were able to stop by ArtPadSF for a quick gander at the action during the exclusive preview night. This show is definitely where the action is at during the SF Fair evenings...fun social atmosphere, drinks, food, and art. Director Maria Jenson did a bang up job putting this show together, and we HIGHLY suggest checking this fair out. The Phoenix Hotel has never looked so good.
A touch of Basel Miami in SF? We think so.
