Move through the mountains
Our skin covered in rain
We see the storm as it’s heavy there
We will remember this place
I feel the love once more like a candle needing
The darkest room with the shadows fleeting
And I’ll wait for you
You’re the only one I’m here for
Stay or leave
Whenever you need me
I’ll be here
Whenever you need me
I’ll be here

A fleeting breakthrough of golden hour light during a cloudy hike last weekend. To me, this sort of light combined with dramatic, stormy skies is the absolute best. This felt like a sneak preview of summer.

This is Beadnell beach near Seahouses in Northumberland , We walked along the sandy beach because it gave us protection from the strong winds, It had been very windy during the night during which we heard noises outside our cottage, when we looked outside at first light there had been tiles blown off the roof and on the news weather warnings for the area.
The light and shadows were flying across the beach with the sand when we came to this stream where we had go right or left to try to get back to higher ground, in the end we went left and found a track over the dunes to a road all the while walking against the wind.
Before went I needed to capture that moving light and that amazing sky so I tucked my Elbows in tight and spread my feet for stability and took twelve images to makes this panorama which I must say under the conditions I am over the moon with.
I only had a couple of seconds (took two shots) of this fragile, delicate little beauty ... a Damselfly in God's garden.

As for the 6.1 earthquake early this morning, I slept through it and we have no damage in San Francisco. Napa was not so lucky with some injuries and fairly significant damage, including some historical buildings. A good reminder that we live in earthquake country.
Hope you have a great day/evening whenever you see this. Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for all of your kind comments -- I appreciate them all.

This is the real, original goal of my adventure with photography - nightscapes images. I am constantly trying to achieve this fleeting mood of communing with the Greatness of the Creator in one pure exposure. I talked my wife into taking photos at night - we had literally an hour before the match (Poland won the European Volleyball Championship), the match started at 9 p.m., and we went to take photos at 8 p.m., close to the house, 1.5 km away. My wife was reading a book in the car at that time!!! I took 29 photos in an hour (the day before I tested the camera settings from the balcony). What can you do, you can see that even such old equipment (borrowed from a friend just for fun, because my friend's is in a drawer and not used at all), which I quickly learned how to use .
I focused manually - on the stars, using the image magnification and manually adjusting the focus with the focus ring (I held the heavy camera in my hands, not on a tripod). Manually focusing on a bright star - to obtain the smallest disc of a shining star possible.
After setting the focus, I took photos in different places, I moved at distances of 200-300 m, but I did not adjust the focus at all, this photo was one of the last ones in the series, taken around 9 p.m. (the little-used camera did not keep the date and time in its setup ).

i went back the other day to the wharf for some practice sunrise shots but the sun did not really show up...some other day maybe..
High up on Penang Hill, amidst the lush greenery of Malaysia, I stumbled upon a scene straight out of a wildlife documentary. It was the mating season for the dusky langurs—these adorable, shy monkeys often called "dusky monkeys". A particular pair had chosen an unlikely romantic spot: a tangle of electric cables.
As I climbed a nearby slope to get eye-level with these enchanting creatures, I noticed the female langur pause her playful antics. Her wide, soulful eyes fixed on a stray dog barking in the distance, as if pondering the noisy interruption. In that fleeting moment, I captured her gaze—curiosity, caution, and undeniable charm rolled into one frame.
Nature often surprises us with such intimate glimpses into the lives of its inhabitants, even in the most unexpected places. This encounter reminded me of the delicate balance between wildlife and human encroachment, as these langurs navigate their changing world with resilience and grace.
Full of fragrance like a flower, fleeting and short-lived like a butterfly. Perfume!
For the Smile on Saturday group challenge
I love to find old perfume bottles in charity shops. No-one uses them any more - all the modern bottles have sealed atomisers. But they are so beautiful, and often have a lingering trace of the perfume that was in them.
HSoS and HCS too!

After about a month of stormy weekends I was determined to go out whatever the weather.
This male Kingfisher perched briefly by the lake - well at least long enough for me to adjust the exposure comp. by about 2 stops to overcome the gloomy conditions.
Taken in Suffolk.
Living up to its name this Reed Warbler eventually, fleetingly came into full view, perching skillfully on a vertical stem. Seen at Cley in Norfolk.
Thank you all for your kind responses.

remembering spring
when we came alive . . .
having slept through winter
we all finally arrived
warm sunshine
a little spring rain . . .
then through the summer
and then autumn . . .
now winter has arrived
we look around . . .
with a feeling of content
beautiful moments
of Nature's intent !

I've had a wonderful week of family connecting...but it's been busy, busy, busy! My Folks left today and sad to say, I was so busy hosting that I didn't get a chance to put on my photographer's hat.
So tonight, I'm just resting and playing with this seed I found in the yard. I guess I needed a little simplicity, serenity and soothing tones.
I'll be around to visit you!!!
Rain is always a welcome friend, especially when you live in a critical fire area. Beyond the fire concerns, rain is also a bringer of beauty--like this moment, after the rain had ceased. When I stepped out my front door I found myself immersed in a wonderful storm of light and hue. The rain had nicely saturated the colors giving the world a dynamic aura that doesn't exist on dry winter days. These small occasions provide fleeting glimpses into things much larger than worrying about mud on the dog's paws.

There was for one fleeting moment, that I genuinely thought this lunatic in the speedboat was on some kind of suicide mission, it was of course an optical illusion, but at the speed and intial direction the boat was moving, I thought my photo would end up as forensic evidence! I also thought that this must be the bane of every large ship Captain's job. In the end the little speedboat zipped along on the inside, (Port Side) of the incredibly impressive Botnia Enabler, Europe's largest most advanced RO-RO Vessel.
I hope everyone is well and as always, thank you! :)

Apologies for the extended absence everyone. The past week whirled by like a hurricane, absorbing all my time and energy, and I may be on 'n off for a little while yet... I however want to take a moment to thank you all, and let you know I'll be doing the rounds to look at / comment on your streams.
And here's a little something to get me started again, a lightly textured Lensbaby image.......I hope you'll enjoy! :)

Can you capture a ray of sunlight? Artists Sabine Marcelis (born 1985) and Boris Acket (born 1988) tried. The idea for this work arose when they saw a ray of sunlight shining perfectly in a puddle of water for five minutes. This artwork is a poetic attempt to preserve this usually fleeting image and thus briefly freeze time.Tentoonstelling. Silence & The Presence of everything.

#57 - 100 x challenge - Lensbaby
A peony is such a fleeting beauty, it teases us with its tight buds that spring into life almost overnight and then before we know it the petals are falling.
I snipped a couple of flower heads off and brought them inside, only one had any petals left by this time. Unfortunately I snipped a bud off too, hopefully it will still flower. Along with the flower I unwittingly brought in a load of ants. Fun and games ensued as I tried to capture them all and put them back outside on the peonies.

A man alone on the cliffs, a silhouette against the darkening sky, the waves crashing far below, their mournful roar rising like the echoes of forgotten grief, each tide a reminder of his sorrow.
Above, a seagull passed aimlessly, their shadow brushing the stone like fleeting memories, untouched by the weight of his sorrow.
The sea, infinite and unyielding, stretched endlessly before him, cold and indifferent, a reflection of the depth of his loneliness, the tide relentless in its rhythm, as if mocking his stillness.
He lingered there, eyes hollow, staring into the abyss, as though pleading for it to speak, to give meaning to the silence that consumed him, to the sorrow that the tide could never wash away.

I love peonies even though they are in bloom for such a short time. I nearly left it too late to take a photo. This was one of the last to flower.
Through branches bare, the sun does gleam,
An orange glow, a twilight beam.
Its rays, like fire, gently creep,
Between the leaves, where shadows sleep.
A fleeting view, so soft, so bright,
The day's last kiss before the night.
In that brief moment, still and clear,
The world feels calm, the sky sincere.

Fleeting Dream
~Melby~
Dark is the night,
Darker the soul,
Fathomless depths,
Stories untold
Memories,some forgotten,
Others remembered,
But are rather left unsaid
The gloom within us
Unerasable
The pain
Undescribable
But we still hope,
That at every darkness there's light
And every pain there's hope
Or is it all just a fleeting dream
In the middle of a nightmare?
Is it a thought
Amidst my many despairs?
Or is my hope to smile just a wish
among many unanswered?
