Beauty consists of its own passing, just as we reach for it. It’s the ephemeral configuration of things in the moment, when you see both their beauty and their death....Does this mean that this is how we must live our lives? Constantly poised between beauty and death, between movement and its disappearance? Maybe that’s what being alive is all about: so we can track down those moments that are dying.

Note: As you know, I rarely post an image in b/w, though not for lack of trying or appreciation. I'm posting this one in mono also because I actually kind of like it (tho not as much as the color), and together they seem to suit the quote quite well.

The spring blossom has gone and it is now just a memory.

Captured on the morning of my last full day in the highlands, the sunrise itself was too obscured by the clouds, but there was this fleeting moment just as the sun cleared the horizon which wasn't too shabby.
It's probably my favourite image of the trip.
Thank you for stopping by and for any comments and favs you may leave and further thanks for looking at my photostream.
For further images from this shoot please take a look at this.
.... captured for ever !
Some of the most fleeting of moments seem to have an importance to me beyond what common sense tells me is important :-)

Flickr is full of exquisite autumn photos just now, so why not adding one more to celebrate this loveliest of seasons.
Created for Beyond Layers eCourse with Kim Klassen ~ *Make it Golden* assignment, with Kim's texture Kristin. The leaf's natural texture is enhanced by the almost monochrome and desaturated effect given by Kim's recipe. To find beauty, just open your eyes. Nature knows how to be wondrous.
Have a fabulous weekend.

In the distance, the ship Czechoslovak "The Grace" on a cruise between the Balearic Islands and Tuscan archipelago often does stop in the Gulf of Baratti. The crew, with maximum enjoyment of younger travelers or those who approach the curious, it is often in pirate seal.
Life is made up of a collection of moments that are not ours to keep. The pain we encounter throughout our days spent on this earth comes from the illusion that some moments can be held onto. Clinging to people and experiences that were never ours in the first place is what causes us to miss out on the beauty of the miracle that is the now. All of this is yours, yet none of it is. How could it be? Look around you. Everything is fleeting.

Gone in a couple of days but still around to be enjoyed weeks, months later thanks to the magic of photography.
So easy to take it for granted :-)

As for the 6.1 earthquake early this morning, I slept through it and we have no damage in San Francisco. Napa was not so lucky with some injuries and fairly significant damage, including some historical buildings. A good reminder that we live in earthquake country.
Hope you have a great day/evening whenever you see this. Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for all of your kind comments -- I appreciate them all.

The warm temps and rain have fooled the Spring flowers into blooming...Tonight Winter sets in here and will likely kill or ruin most of them...I decided to just catch a fleeting moment while it was here...
In May in the Lofoten Islands the weather is very changeable. Just after the generous rays of the sun warmed the meadows, the snow comes up very quickly with dark clouds to remind you that winter is still not over.

I'd seen pictures of White Pocket in the Vermillion Cliffs National Monument in northern Arizona from my flickr friends and decided I had to go there. I rented a 4WD vehicle in Page, Utah to get out there and it was expensive but definitely worth it to see this amazing place.
Wishing all my flickr friends health, happiness and lots of great photography in 2023.
Friday!! Have a great one, and a great weekend as well ♥
