The Renault 5 Turbo or R5 Turbo is a sport hatchback automobile launched by the French manufacturer Renault at the Brussels Motor Show in January 1980. The car was primarily designed for rallying, but was also sold in a street version. The distinctive new rear bodywork was styled by Marc Deschamps at Bertone, headed by Chief Designer Marcello Gandini.
Although the standard Renault 5 has a front-mounted engine, the 5 Turbo featured a mid-mounted 1,397 cc (1.4 L; 85.3 cu in) Cléon-Fonte with fuel fed by Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and a Garrett AiResearch T3 turbocharger OHV 2 valves per cylinder Inline-four engine placed behind the driver in mid-body in a modified Renault 5 chassis. In standard form, the engine developed 160 PS (158 hp) The first 400 production 5 Turbos were made to comply with Group 4 homologation to allow the car to compete in international rallies, and were manufactured at the Alpine factory in Dieppe. The factory pushed the engine output up to 180 PS (132 kW; 178 hp) for the Critérium des Cévennes, 210 PS (154 kW; 207 hp) for the Tour de Corse, and by 1984 as much as 350 PS (257 kW; 345 hp) in the R5 Maxi Turbo. The Renault 5 Turbo competed in the sub-2000 cc category, thanks to the multiplication factor of 1.4 which was applied to turbocharged engines. FISA restricted tire and wheel sizes based on engine size, so for the Maxi Turbo, Renault enlarged to engine to 1527 cc which brought it up to 2138 cc in the eyes of the regulatory agencies - placing it in the 2000–2500 cc category and allowing for the fitment of wider wheels at the expense of a higher minimum weight.

Based on the 3rd generation Celica (1981-85), the Celica turbo was launched for the local Japanese market in September 1982. The GT-T (TA63) came with the twin-spark 1.8-liter 3T-GTE engine, W55 5-speed manual gearbox, a limited slip differential, pump up lumbar "sports" seats and optional digital dash. To meet the FISA regulation for Group B Rally Car to compete in the World Rally Championship (WRC), 200 units of the Celica GT-TS were built. These were the basic cars for Group B Celica Twincam Turbo (TA64) which were built and rallied by Toyota Team Europe (TTE). The Group B Celica TCT made its WRC debut in the 1983 Rally Finland. The production car had 180 PS (132 kW; 178 hp) engine, and with 320 bhp (239 kW; 324 PS) 4T-GTE engine, the fully works rally car was the most powerful third-generation Celica.
This car is in the decals of Bjorn Waldegard and his long term co-driver Hans Thorzelius. Together they won the 1983 Ivory Coast Rally and the 1984 Safari Rally in one of these cars.

Rowing at the Summer Olympics has been part of the competition since the 1900 Summer Olympics. Rowing was on the program at the 1896 Summer Olympics but was cancelled due to bad weather. Only men were allowed to compete until the women's events were introduced at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal. Lightweight rowing events were introduced to the games in 1996. Qualifying for the rowing events is under the jurisdiction of the International Rowing Federation (or FISA, its French acronym). FISA predates the modern Olympics and was the first international sport federation to join the modern Olympic movement.

The original TZ, currently sometimes referenced as TZ1 to differ from later TZ2, was developed in together with Autodelta, a company led by Ex-Ferrari engineer Carlo Chiti. It featured a 1570 cc twin cam engine and other mechanical components shared with the Alfa Romeo Giulia and carried a 105 series chassis number, but was a purpose built sports racing car, with a tubular spaceframe chassis, light all-aluminium bodywork, disc brakes and independent suspension. The result was a lightweight coupé of only 650 kilograms (1,400 lb) and top speed of 134 miles per hour (216 km/h). The TZ was built both for street and racing trim, with the latest racing versions producing up to 160 brake horsepower (120 kW).
The car debuted at the 1963 FISA Monza Cup, where TZs took the first four places in the prototype category. At the beginning of 1964 the TZ was homologated (100 units were needed for homologation) to the Gran Turismo category. After homologation it started to take more class wins in Europe and North-America. Of the first TZ, 112 units were built between 1963 and 1965. Only built as limited amount these TZ models are quite collectibles nowadays, listed price around 150,000-200,000 US dollars.
In 1965 the car was updated with new fibreglass bodywork providing lower drag and reduced weight (620 kg). This new version was also made by Zagato. The new design was called the Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ2. The TZ2 was only built as racing version with Autodelta prepared twin plug, dry sump lubrication engine producing around 170 brake horsepower (130 kW). With this engine the car reached top speed of 152 miles per hour (245 km/h). The rear window was also changed, now single unit rather than three part window in TZ. Development of TZ cars was stopped in the end of 1965, to make room for new GTA racing program. Only 12 TZ2's were built

Die Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ 1 wurde 1962 als straßentauglicher Rennwagen auf dem Turiner Autosalon vorgestellt. Gebaut wurde sie bei Zagato, daher das "Z" im Namen, während das "T" für Tubolare (Rohrrahmen) steht.
Der 1,6-Liter-Motor der Giulia leistet 112 PS. Zusammen mit einem Leergewicht von 660 kg, bedingt durch Gitterrohrrahmen, beeinflusst das die Fahrleistungen positiv. Insgesamt wurden in den Jahren von 1963 bis 1965 102 Stück gebaut. Im Motorsport kam es zu guten Platzierungen, wenn auch nicht zu besten. Außerdem traten oft technische Ausfälle auf.
Nachfolger wurde deshalb 1964 der deutlich erfolgreichere Alfa Romeo TZ 2. Die Leistung wurde auf 165 PS erhöht und das Gewicht nochmal auf 620 kg reduziert. Auch wurde das Fahrwerk verbessert. Inzwischen war die Firma Autodelta bei Alfa Romeo für den Motorsport verantwortlich. Im Tourenwagensport erzielte die neu entwickelte Giulia GTA bessere Erfolge. Dies führte dann mit zu der Entscheidung, sich ganz auf den GTA zu konzentrieren und die Herstellung der TZ 2 1967 nach nur zwölf Exemplaren einzustellen.

This car competed in the Invitation Class in the 2 hour long British Empire Trophy race for Group C Endurance cars at the Silverstone Historic Festival meeting in August 2001. It's the 1993 Jaguar XJ220-C of AJL Racing that was driven in the race by Gerry Wainwright and Alan Lloyd. The Jaguar XJ220 was produced from 1992 to 1994 with a 3,498cc twin-turbocharged V6 engine, and in 1993 a racing version, the XJ220-C was introduced to compete in FISA GT Racing. Three of the cars competed in the 1993 Le Mans 24 Hour race, one of them finishing first in the GT category but was later disqualified for running without catalytic converters. The other two cars failed to finish the race. In 1995 two cars were entered but both dropped out before the halfway mark.

Officially unveiled at the 1995 Pebble Beach Concours, the Chrysler Viper GTS-R (also known as the Dodge Viper GTS-R when raced in North America) was a successful racing variant of the Dodge Viper
Chrysler believed that in order to adapt their car not only for North American but also European circuits, they would require outside assistance. An agreement was made with the French racing and engineering firm Oreca.
Oreca would construct and maintain the racing cars in their shops, as well as run Chrysler's official factory teams in Europe. For North America, Chrysler would recruit the Canaska/Southwind Team as their factory effort.
Although Oreca would construct the cars, key elements would come from British engineering firm Reynard Motorsport. This would mainly consist of the construction of the car's basic chassis and other integral parts before they were shipped to Oreca for assembly.
The Oreca and Southwind cars entered competition from 1996 in Europe and North America, , with both teams appearing at Le Mans. The Viper also proved popular with customer teams.
The cars racing sucess stretched from the 1997 seasons and through to 2004, and a Cghampionship victory in the Belgian GT Championships as late as 2009.
Noteable wins included 24hr Nurburgring 1999, 2001 and 2002. Rolex 24hr |Daytona 1999. Spa 24 hour 2001 and 2002.

A racing version of the XJ220 was introduced at the 1993 Autosport International motor show, with the code name XJ220 C, and was built to compete in FISA GT racing. The XJ220-C driven by Win Percy won its first race, a round of the BRDC National Sports GT Challenge at Silverstone.
Three XJ220 Cs (modified for 24 hour racing) were entered in the 1993 Le Mans 24 hour race, in the newly created Grand Touring Class. Two of the cars failed to finish but the remaining car, driven by John Nielsen, David Brabham and David Coulthard won the GT class, beating Porsche by two laps. However that win was overturned after a post race disqualification, by senior steward Alain Bertaut. The Jaguars had passed scrutiny and completed the first day of qualifying when senior steward Alain Bertaut complained that Jaguar were not running catalytic converters, the cars were allowed to tun but after winning the class Bertaut claimed the cars were entered under the IMSA GT category and needed to run with catalytic converters, and the cars had been allowed to run. in the race under appeal. International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) officials wrote to the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) organisers of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, confirming that the XJ220s had complied with IMSA rules. El sanatori antituberculós de Puig d'Olena va ser construït per l'arquitecte Antoni Fisas i inaugurat l'any 1933. L'arquitecte fou assessorat per Maria Planas i Cabot, qui va encarregar la seva construcció, i pel Dr. Francesc Ribas Soberanos. Maria Planes havia estat en alguns sanatoris de Suïssa dedicats a la tuberculosi, malaltia que patia el seu pare, coneixements que va utilitzar per la construcció d'aquest edifici. El sanatori va començar a construir l'any 1930 i inicialment la documentació parlar del sanatori de la Rovireta tot i que l'any 1933 se li posar oficialment el nom de sanatori de Puig d'Olena.
Aquest sanatori es va convertir en la institució més avançada del paÃs, tant a nivell arquitectònic, tecnològic i professional. Dins el personal d'atenció als malalts hi havia una comunitat de les Dominiques de l'Anunciata. L'any 1954 el sanatori va tancar per manca de malalts però el setembre del mateix any va obrir novament per acollir infants amb sota la responsabilitat de l'Associació de la Mare de Déu de Fà tima, experiència que va durar poc temps. Entre els anys 1955 i 1988 i sota la direcció de les Dominiques de l'Anunciata passa a ser preventori i centre residencial d'infants. A partir del 1989 va convertir-se en un centre col·laborador de la Direcció General d'Atenció a la Infà ncia i a l'Adolescència (DGAIA) de la Generalitat de Catalunya. A partir de 1996 passà a ésser Centre Residencial d'Acció Educativa de Menors (CRAE) amb la particularitat que els acollits, per una millor integració, es distribueixen en escoles dels nuclis de població més propers.
L'edifici és una construcció de planta rectangular que consta de planta baixa i tres pisos amb la coberta a quatre vessants a diferents nivells. A la façana principal, orientada a tramuntana, s'hi obre la porta d'accés d'arc de mig punt i un seguit de finestrals d'arc pla. La façana posterior, orientada a migjorn, té una composició simètrica formada per un cos més alt amb balconades d'arc pla alternada amb un cos adossat més baix format per una galeria d'arc de mig punt a la planta baixa, una galeria d'arc pla a la primera planta i per finestrals d'arc pla a la segona planta. Totes aquestes galeries eren espais per afavorir les sortides exteriors dels malats des de les antigues habitacions. A la part central de l'edifici, en sobresurt una construcció de planta octogonal que forma part del tercer pis. Aquest cos correspon a l'antiga capella del Roser on destaca la coberta interior realitzada amb fusta. L'exterior de la coberta és de teula à rab a diferents aigües i coronada amb una creu. A les parets s'hi obren un seguit de finestres en forma d'òcul emmarcades amb maons. Actualment, aquest espai es utilitzat com a sala d'actes tot i conservar els elements de la capella. D'aquest edifici en destaca l'habitació que va ocupar el poeta Mà rius Torres, situada a la porta número 10 de la primera planta. L'interior s'ha recreat tenint en compte imatges antigues de tal com eren les habitacions amb mobiliari, estris de la vida quotidiana i en aquest cas documents i escrits relacionats amb el poeta i la seva vida. A la planta baixa també en destaca la sala de reunions on hi ha una petita exposició amb elements originals del sanatori i la història del sanatori.

The original TZ, currently sometimes referenced as TZ1 to differ from later TZ2, was developed in together with Autodelta, a company led by Ex-Ferrari engineer Carlo Chiti. It featured a 1,570 cc twin cam engine and other mechanical components shared with the Alfa Romeo Giulia and carried a 105 series chassis number, but was a purpose built sports racing car, with a tubular spaceframe chassis, light all-aluminium bodywork, disc brakes and independent suspension. The result was a lightweight coupé of only 650 kilograms (1,430 lb) and top speed of 134 miles per hour (216 km/h). The TZ was built both for street and racing trim, with the latest racing versions producing up to 160 brake horsepower (120 kW). Alfa's twin-spark cylinder head, as also used in the GTA, contributed to the speed of the TZ; the standard Giulia alloy block with wet steel liners was installed at an angle under the hood of the TZ to improve airflow.
Aiding the TZ in its quest for performance was the treatment of the rear bodywork. Incorporating the research of Dr. Wunibald Kamm, the TZ used a style called "coda tronca" in Italian, meaning "short tail.", otherwise known as the Kamm tail. The principle is that unless you are willing to incorporate an aircraft-like extended tail (not practical for an automobile), there is surprisingly little, if any, increase in drag and a marked decrease in lift or even some downforce by simply chopping off a portion of the tail. Zagato had previously proved the success of this tail treatment in their "coda tronca" Sprint Zagato sports-racing cars, and it was a natural evolution to adapt this to the Giulia TZ.
The car debuted at the 1963 FISA Monza Cup, where TZs took the first four places in the prototype category. At the beginning of 1964 the TZ was homologated (100 units were needed for homologation) to the Gran Turismo category. After homologation it started to take more class wins in Europe and North-America. Of the first TZ, 112 units were built between 1963 and 1965. Only built as limited amount these TZ models are quite collectibles nowadays, listed price around 150,000-200,000 US dollars.

In 1965 the car was updated with new fibreglass bodywork providing lower drag and reduced weight (620 kg). This new version was also made by Zagato. The new design was called the Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ2. The TZ2 was only built as racing version with Autodelta prepared twin plug, dry sump lubrication engine producing around 170 brake horsepower (130 kW). With this engine the car reached top speed of 152 miles per hour (245 km/h). The rear window was also changed, now single unit rather than three part window in TZ. Development of TZ cars was stopped in the end of 1965, to make room for new GTA racing program. Only 12 TZ2's were built

Die Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ 1 wurde 1962 als straßentauglicher Rennwagen auf dem Turiner Autosalon vorgestellt. Gebaut wurde sie bei Zagato, daher das "Z" im Namen, während das "T" für Tubolare (Rohrrahmen) steht.
Der 1,6-Liter-Motor der Giulia leistet 112 PS. Zusammen mit einem Leergewicht von 660 kg, bedingt durch Gitterrohrrahmen, beeinflusst das die Fahrleistungen positiv. Insgesamt wurden in den Jahren von 1963 bis 1965 102 Stück gebaut. Im Motorsport kam es zu guten Platzierungen, wenn auch nicht zu besten. Außerdem traten oft technische Ausfälle auf.
Nachfolger wurde deshalb 1964 der deutlich erfolgreichere Alfa Romeo TZ 2. Die Leistung wurde auf 165 PS erhöht und das Gewicht nochmal auf 620 kg reduziert. Auch wurde das Fahrwerk verbessert. Inzwischen war die Firma Autodelta bei Alfa Romeo für den Motorsport verantwortlich. Im Tourenwagensport erzielte die neu entwickelte Giulia GTA bessere Erfolge. Dies führte dann mit zu der Entscheidung, sich ganz auf den GTA zu konzentrieren und die Herstellung der TZ 2 1967 nach nur zwölf Exemplaren einzustellen.

Activists in New York's Union Square braved pouring rain and wind to demonstrate their support for Edward Snowden, who is reportedly the source for explosive revelations that the National Security Agency (NSA) routinely monitors virtually all personal electronic communications in the United States. The Obama administration is expected to seek criminal charges against Snowden but the issue has the potential to turn into a major crisis for the scandal-plagued White House.
The Holden Commodore (VK) is a mid-size car that was produced by the Australian subsidiary of General Motors, Holden, from 1984 to 1986. It was the first iteration of the first generation of this Australian made model and introduced the luxury variant, Holden Calais (VK) sedan.
Overview
The VK series was the first Commodore to have plastic (polypropylene) bumpers and introduced rear quarter windows for a six-window design (styled by Holden, but similar in appearance to the Opel Senator) as opposed to the four-window design on previous Commodore models. Apart from the bumpers and "glasshouse", other changes for the VK Commodore included a front grille redesign and revamped dashboard instrumentation that included a full digital (vacuum fluorescent display) arrangement for the new luxury version, the Calais.
The exterior of the VK Commodore was also updated with a more modern and aggressive appearance. This included a new grill design very different from previous models, with three bold strips rather than a metallic grill, the now plastic front and rear bumpers/skirts replacing the obsolete metal guards, and a new rear tail light assembly, whereby they now spread from one side to another with a black panel in between. This all added up to a more prominent, sharper look for the 1980s. Changes were also made to the interior whereupon the panel of instruments were now square-shaped rather than the more conventional circular layout. In total, 135,705 VK Commodores were built.
Models
The VK range introduced new names for the specification levels, with Executive now a stand-alone nameplate alongside the base model SL. The Commodore Executive was basically a Commodore SL appointed with automatic transmission and power steering, and was aimed at capturing the fleet market, a market that Holden had lost its share in when the smaller bodied Commodore originally replaced the Kingswood. Also introduced was the Commodore Berlina (replacing the SL/X) and the Holden Calais (replacing the Commodore SL/E). The station wagon body style was available in SL, Executive or Berlina variants only, however the limited edition Vacationer name plate was also continued over for a period from the VH Commodore. Other variants produced were the Commodore SS sedan which featured its own specification – courtesy of HDT – high-performance 4.9-litre V8, and the limited edition – available only through affiliated HDT Holden dealers – LM 5000, SS Group 3, SS Group A (502 made) and Calais Director sedans.
Engines
Engine choices (not necessarily available on all cars in the VK range) were two versions of a 5.0-litre 308 cui Holden V8 engine (replaced by the 4.9-litre 304 cui V8 when Group A rules entered Australian motorsport in 1985) and two versions of a 3.3-litre inline 'black' Straight-6 engine (essentially a refined 'blue' I6 with slight increases in power and efficiency), the latter of which was available with either a carburetor or fuel injection. The 3.3 EST carburetor engine was standard equipment for most VK Commodores, with the 3.3 EFI injection engine nominated as standard equipment for the Calais sedan.
The 2.85-litre six-cylinder and the 4.2-litre V8, mainstays of the previous Commodore ranges were dropped, hence unavailable to the VK, however Holden's 1.9L Starfire 4-cylinder unit was offered on New Zealand market VK models.
SS Group A
The Commodore SS Group A was heavily modified by Holden's official performance tuner, originally the Holden Dealer Team. The SS Group A existed primarily as a homologation special, created specifically so a racing optimised version of the Commodore could be utilised for Group A touring car motor racing. The regulations set down by the international governing body FISA for Group A motor racing specified that a minimum of 500 cars were to be built to a certain specification prior to said vehicle being allowed to compete. Group A regulations governed many touring car series at the 1980s and 1990s including series in Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain, Japan, Italy, Germany and the European Touring Car Championship as well as the one-off 1987 World Touring Car Championship as well as significant races like the Bathurst 1000, Spa 24 Hours and the RAC Tourist Trophy. The SS Group A model run ran from 1985 until 1992. The four models have since become highly collectible amongst Holden and performance enthusiasts.
Unique amongst all products produced by both the Holden Dealer Team and Holden Special Vehicles, these cars were referred to as Holdens, rather than as HDTs or HSVs.
As the first model to be produced (1985 – February 1986) represented Holden's increasing efforts in Group A racing. Available only in blue associated with the corporate colours of the Holden Dealer Team's principle sponsor Mobil, which gave rise to the cars nickname, the "Blue Meanie". Production began in early 1985, but part supply problems saw the HDT fail to build the required number of 500 and it missed the 1 August deadline for it to be eligible for racing that year. Production still continued and the VK SS Group A was available for motor racing from 1 January 1986. 502 cars were available only through Holden Dealer Team-affiliated Holden dealerships.
Visually the VK Group A SS had the addition of a rear spoiler, larger front air dam and a more aggressive front grill over the standard VK Commodore. Other changes included a double row timing chain (eliminating the car's inherent weakness of 1985, a single row chain), as well as stronger conrods and suspension mountings.
Power for the road going Group A SS with its 4.9 litre engine was rated at 196 kW (263 hp) at 5,200 rpm, with a top speed of 215 km/h (134 mph). Transmission options were M21 4-Speed manual, or T5 5-Speed (optional). The car was assembled at Dandenong, Victoria (Holden) and modified at Port Melbourne, Victoria (HDT).

About 40 people met outside Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar's office to protest National Security Agency NSA) surveillance programs. The existence of PRISM, a surveillance program run by the NSA since 2007, was recently leaked by NSA contractor Edward Snowden. Leaked documents revealed NSA is collecting people's online communications from corporations such as Microsoft, Yahoo!, Google, Facebook, Paltalk, YouTube, AOL, Skype, and Apple.
