Gaye Su Akyol from Turkey played a sold out Alice last week for a hungry (part Turkish) crowd. But charming Luna Ersahin also blew me away with both her voice and charm.

Week 6 - Silence
Some weeks are easy, some are harder. Sometimes i have this amazing ideas, an overflow of them that eventually just can't easily be put into practice because i either lack props, time, a place or even the right skills. This week was extremely hard, for when i saw the theme being "silence" i couldn't figure out how to turn such thing into a still image, a single photo.
I first though of going after some song, lyrics i could translate into imagery, than i realised it was way more complex and as days rolled by and no ideas occurred to me i ended up resorting to something as simple - and silly - as this and yet it's filled with meaning.
Sometimes to find the silence we need, to shut the voices off is hard. They are all around, like the tiny orbs in the photo. They try to lift you up or tear you down, and either way sometimes you just need to listen to the simple yet hard to find silence, just that. Sometimes it's the silence that brings solace, peace, happiness, those single, quick moments of no sound, no nothing, just purely existing.
It was a rather hard week but this makes it even funnier because pushing ourselves to the limit is something we need to do so much more often.

Week 7
This week was not particulary hard when it comes to ideas, i actually had two different concepts i wanted to do but with a tendency to stumble on my love for history and art, it was quite clear which way i was headed. Despite everything I was caught with this awful flu that kicked me down into bed rest for days and even though this is very close to what i imagined it would be, it's not as complete in terms of imagary as i would have liked.
I ran after the idea of goddesses in Greek and Roman mythology, this little big love of mine, and ended up coming to focus my attention on Aurora (Roman) or Eos (Greek) for the meaning of a goddess who is less known but tha means a lot to me. Not only the break of dawn is something that always feels so magical, as the name Aurora from the Roman was a very special meaning to me - my closest friends know why - and also because the Greek equivalent Eos reminds me of...well, Canon, my tool of choice, as you might know.
I would like to bring some amazing though and debate to this week's theme...but flu is still kicking my arse real bad, so bare with me, this is all i can write for now.

I removed the museum’s wall color from this shot, as the area between the two canvasses was very dark. The distance between them has been retained. These are two very large paintings. My best guess is that each is between 6 and 7 feet in height.

Loie Hollowell’s Boob Wheel (2019), displayed at the Hirshhorn Museum, is a powerful and provocative work that explores the intersections of the human body, abstraction, and color in contemporary art. Measuring over six feet tall, this mesmerizing acrylic and oil on canvas painting commands attention with its bold, biomorphic shapes and rich, saturated hues.
The composition centers on a symmetrically divided figure that echoes the natural curves of the human body, particularly the female form, while simultaneously abstracting it into a cosmic, almost spiritual realm. The painting’s top half features a soft oval suggesting a head, set above a geometric swirl of forms reminiscent of a breast or a planetary orbit. The lower half unfolds into a hypnotic pattern of curvilinear forms, evocative of buttocks or a cosmic landscape, all grounded by a warm, radiant orange gradient that bridges the ethereal and the earthly.
Hollowell’s signature use of vibrant blues and oranges creates a dynamic contrast that draws viewers into the painting’s depths, while the interplay of smooth gradients and subtle textures gives the work an almost tactile quality. The strategic placement of small, bright red spheres adds an element of movement and energy, echoing both the feminine and the universal.
Displayed on a salmon-hued wall, Boob Wheel becomes part of the museum’s architectural space, inviting viewers to contemplate its forms from multiple perspectives. Hollowell’s work challenges traditional notions of femininity and representation, blending the intimate with the cosmic to create a painting that is both deeply personal and profoundly universal.

The music doesn't stop here. This picture was taken over a month ago when my wife took me to Katy Perry 's concert at SAP Center in San Jose. I can tell you Katy has given her 110 percent effort in the show. She was literally flying all over while singing her hit songs. The other female artist I have seen flying was Sarah Brightman from UK, and my wife told me Pink flied as well. Anyway, the whole concert was almost like a circus. My afterthought was that I should have asked my wife to buy the tickets for the floor standing down below so that we could have a closer view. I had no idea it was that entertaining. My wife 's Fuji X10 is great for concert. It opens up to F2 at the wide end and F2.8 at the telephoto end. I have also looked into the Sony RX10 which has a bigger sensor for low light photography. But it 's deemed too big and it also looks like a DSLR where the venue might not allow it in.
