This image was commissioned to me by San Francisco-based writer and poet Jefferson Adams. It is part of a collection of different media representing poems by Adams, called Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Poem.
It is very dear to me because of the creative freedom I was given, as well as the great idea behind it, and the people who worked with me to complete it.
This piece will have a poem attached at the bottom, called The Artist as Lord of Creation.

The artist has just added several new pieces to her website. They are all amazing. I’ve shared some of her previous work here on Flickr in the past, because I love her imagined scenes. Gretchen has a completely unique take on interiors. This work is 24 x 30 inches. www.gretchenscherer.com

Kathak is one of the eight forms of Indian classical dance. This dance form traces its origins to the nomadic bards of ancient northern India, known as Kathakars or storytellers. Its form today contains traces of temple and ritual dances, and the influence of the bhakti movement. The structure of a conventional kathak performance tends to follow a progression in tempo from slow to fast, ending with a dramatic climax.

at El Vado Tap Room, Albuquerque, New Mexico August 15, 2020 From the dirt roads of NM, Chessa Peak, or “Peak” as she’s called, is a blues/folk/Americana singer/songwriter. Her vocals capture the power and emotion which mirror the struggles she’s overcome in her rough past. When performing with a full band her musical style strays more towards Texas/Chicago hard hitting electric blues sounds. As a solo/acoustic musician her sound gears down to a more intimate folk/rock/blues style that has helped shape her as a musician and a person.
“I am a singer, songwriter, music lover, guitarist, writer, bartender, hot rod enthusiast, leader, healer, spiritualist, mountain girl, gypsy soul, are among the many passions I draw upon in my songwriting. I am constantly learning and evolving. I believe change is the only true constant.” – Chessa Peak

I place myself among the clouds — not above, but elsewhere. I show the way I see, quietly. You look away, and that too is part of the story. This image doesn’t shout. It’s one of many that represent who I am.
She is a famous and talented female artist from Singapore, participated in the "Concert in The Park" event, in conjunction with the SG50 celebration. She has a wonderfully sweat and clear vocal to sing pop and jazz songs, be it in english or mandarin, she sings it perfectly and artistically.

This is Donna’s most recent drawing project, finished just yesterday. I scanned it and had to fix up the top area as my scanner left a dull grayish line there. The image itself is just over 10 x 8 inches (25.4 x 20.3 cm).

Bharathanatyam is a form of Indian classical dance that originated in the temples of Tamil Nadu. Bharata Natyam is known for its grace, elegance, purity, tenderness, expression and sculpturesque poses. Lord Shiva in his Nataraja form is considered the God of this dance. Today, it is one of the most popular and widely performed dance styles and is practiced by male and female dancers all over the world, although it is more commonly danced by women.
Bharata Natyam is considered to be a fire-dance — the mystic manifestation of the metaphysical element of fire in the human body. It is one of the five major styles (one for each element) that include Odissi (element of water), Kuchipudi (element of earth), Mohiniattam (element of air) and Kathakali (element of sky or aether). The movements of an authentic Bharata Natyam dancer resemble the movements of a dancing flame.

Week 9
After not doing last week's photo with the theme of "Crown" i didn't want to go another week without pushing myself harder in order to achieve just a mere selfportrait. It's not something that i can say i am proud of, but it works, it's there, it's one of those "push over your mental limit" moment because February was in no way a kind month when it comes to emotional matters.
Sadness aside, this week's theme is "Spiritual" and oh my, is it a hard one or what? It can be so much, i could have gone in so many different directions and yet i dwelled in the idea that spiritual for me is about light, about a moment all to myself. hidden from the world, yet in great harmomy with everything around me, with the universe.
Spiritual is a hard concept to grasp, i didn't want it to be religious, i didn't want to go with something about ghosts - though i love the idea of it - so i ended up with myself, a quiet moment and light. We are all spirits, more or less aware of it, some kinder than others, but all working together, living together, growing together. It's the spirit of a person, of a community, in the case of this project the spirit of a collective sisterhood that brought me so much, a spiritual well-being, happiness, friendship.
If that ain't wonderful I don't know what is.
We're six friends, photographers, creating an annual project through 52 weeks. If you want to join us in this adventure please use the hashtag #52sisterhoodproject and create a self-portrait around this week's theme. We can't wait to see everything!
