This poignant memorial can be seen in Southpoint Park at the southern end of Roosevelt Island in New York City. The artist is Meredith Bergmann.
I've been itching to do some car light trails for a while now. Finally got the chance on a recent visit to NYC. I took this one from the Manhattan Bridge overlooking the FDR Drive with the Brooklyn Bridge in the background.
At the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial the President's statue alongside a statue of Fala, his Scottish Terrier.. They were sculpted by Neil Estern.
The memorial is spread out over 7.5 acres adjacent to Cherry Tree Walk in the southwest part of the Tidal Basin. It was dedicated in May 1997.

Sometimes I can’t resist temptation. I went back and bought it. The price was reasonable and best of all ,the deciding reason, it was made in Jersey City.

The FDR Drive was completely inundated by the rising East River. This was shortly after high tide. One can see a dog frolicing in the southbound lane to the left (its owners standing on the median).

A scenic haven approximately 40 miles from New York City, Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park offers day-trippers a day of fun and relaxation.
he park's oases of blue water, Mohansic Lake and Crom Pond, provide excellent freshwater fishing and boating. Popular catches include bass, perch, and sunfish. A New York State Freshwater Fishing License is required. Licenses can be purchased at town halls or at a variety of sporting goods stores. Both rowboats and pedal boats are available for rental; however, a regional boating permit allows visitors to launch their own rowboats, canoes or kayaks. For an additional fee, rowboat owners may also store their boats. In wintertime, the water's tree-lined border provides a winter wonderland backdrop for ice fisherman.

During my recent trip to Washington, D.C. I spent some time visiting memorials at night. My last stop was the FDR Memorial around the Tidal Basin. This memorial captures the many phases of the four terms of FDR. There is a large statue of FDR. I've tried to capture the stress he must have felt carrying the weight of WWII on his shoulders. Using black and white seems to bring out the detail of those lines.
