Former site of Exxon Gas Station, which has gone through a series of owners. After Exxon left the Southern California area, the station eventually became a Texaco Gasoline Station. It was at this point that the original main building went from the traditional 1970s design to its current box design. After the split up of the Shell Texaco Marketing alliance due to CHEVRON buying Texaco, this station eventually converted to a CHEVRON Station with a convenience store, however it went out of business somewhere between 2007/2008. These photos were taken on 12/27/2008 for the Grand Reopening of the CHEVRON with a new convenience store name West Coast Customs at 11261 Santa Monica Blvd.

Hundreds of signs from gas stations, fast food restaurants, and oddly enough Thrifty Drug stores. The owner of the lot kindly gave me a tour but he looked at these prized possessions as "ideas that went to hell". Many of the signs are so big that he doesnt know what to do with them. It really was quite a great nice thing for that guy to stop his work and give me a tour of this sign graveyard about five miles south of Fresno,CA on the Golden State Highway.

Former Esso/Exxon/Gulf gas station.

Flatbush Avenue & Kings Highway,Brooklyn,NYC

Long ago,in 1977,my friend knew someone who worked here, The garage was then the original old style type with a lift. He let us raise the VW my sister gave me to check underneath.

My friend died suddenly at age 20 in June 1978 due to heart failure perhaps caused by effects of Rheumatic fever he had in childhood. But this gas station always reminds me of him. It seems like it is being prepared for a new use such as happened to several other former gas stations in my area.
