The fastest freight train I have ever seen! The driver was bobbing from side to side as the train motored through and must have been doing every bit of 65 mph I reckon. 70806 working the 6M51 Baglan Bay – Chirk logs train passing through Abergavenny.
DSB ME 1513 hauling night train P 233 "Nord-Express" Oostende – København between Glumsø und Ringsted. Passengers from London would have left Victoria station the day before at 12.05 by the boat train for Ramsgate.
I should at least have expected DSB's local coaches from Rødby at the front of the train as usual. But I did not expect the exotic belgian vehicles at the obstructed rear with DB's and sleeping cars in the middle. I should have chosen another angle, but I never got a second chance for this train.

Waar deze op zaterdag ochtend aankomen , omdat dit de eerste trein vertrok deze als ledigmateriaal weer van uit Oostenrijk naar Amsterdam , zo kon ik deze fraaie trein te Hedel op 24 December 2023 vastleggen met als tractie de Train Charter TCS 101001 , Tot aan de grens had de TCS 103003 (101 133) deze trein gebracht
Tevens is goed te zien dat de weilanden het steeds moeilijker krijgen om het vele water te verwerken

Even though the sun has technically risen, it stills looks to be blue hour out as the Winter Park Express heads west at MP 14. There is a small winter storm blowing through this morning. Snow is lightly falling, but the wind is blowing hard. It is 30°F (-1°C) out, but with the wind, it feels like it is about 10°F (-12°C).

At Km 40 of the Ing. Jacobacci to Esquel narrow gauge line, north of Ojos de Agua (Rio Negro province), the cute little train affectionately called “La Trochita”, or “El Viejo Express Patagónico” (the Old Patagonian Express) strolls in a desolate desert landscape. It is not the usual dry sandy desert, there is a small river nearby, but it is a remote plateau with almost no inhabitants for miles around, and a land devoid of most activity apart from some scarce ruminant livestock attended by the famous gauchos.

I looked through my slides taken 30 years ago this week on the Cape Mountaineer tour in South Africa and decided to scan this picture obtained during an outstanding session at Kraankuil. Just after dawn we witnessed a number of freight workings at speed along the Kimberley - De Aar main line. This one featured a modified class 25NC No 3454 with a dual Lempor exhaust system, the chimneys being arranged side by side rather than in line. The loco also had modified smoke deflectors with a curve at the top clearly seen in this picture. This is the last time that I saw steam hauled freight trains at express speeds. 26th July 1990.
