114 days ago I spent 2 hours of my life building this cube out of 192 matches which can be seen here Match Cube 229/366 to photograph for my 366 project. On that day I promised that before the end of this project I would set fire to it and here it is! This was obviously a one shot deal as there was no way I was about to build another if this didn't work! There was obviously a lot of unknowns, where should I light it? how fast would it burn? which direction would it burn? how bright would it be? how high would the flames be? In the end after a few test lighting shots I took the plunge! This is the moment all the match heads on the bottom of the cube combusted causing a cool looking explosion!
I've also posted a couple more shots from the sequence, one at the beginning and one at the end.
Strobist… 580exii camera left lastolite ezybox speedlite 1/8 24mm. 580exii camera right bare through opaque plexiglas 1/4 24mm. 580exii bare directly above 1/64 105mm.
The left one erupted less frequently than the right one (about once an hour), but it did so with more force. Plenty of solid material being thrown up can be seen in the larger version of the picture.
I've taken extra care to write a story anyone can jump into, and there is an animation!!! Yes, I am more than excited to show that off, but you can't see it working on Flickr. Head to: www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/187454-n...
Enjoy!

Our Grevillea bush is full of these exquisite blossoms. The birds love the flowers and often drop in to feed. The first flower reminds me of the fireworks that I saw on New Year's Eve.

After work I dragged my housemates to take a photo of the sunset and even if they whined and wanted to go home already (cuz it takes awhile for the sky's color to change)... I am glad I waited if only for the result of this photo.

Headed up to Palm Beach this afternoon and made a decision on where we thought the clouds would pop for sunset - Glad we chose the Eastern side.
This is an old image of mine, made in July of 2003, well before my recent surge in digital activity.
I am having a black and white mode in processing at the moment ... so before I return there ... here's some summer colour, taken in Giverny.
